Unlearn Veil To Understand Development

Veil being used or forced to being used by women is a shame for a civilized society. It is a clear violation to basic human rights. It is a clear violation to keep half of the population as slaves. It is curse to human society. Veil, irrespective of religion, is the biggest impediment of growth. Veil will create riot not by anybody but those who are being veiled for centuries.
Mallika Sherawat, the famous Indian actress, rebelled from her family setup to work in movies. Her parents never agreed with her ideas. She broke relations with her parents to pursue her career in movies. In a press conference, she roared, ‘My dad comes from a very old-world setup where everything is very traditional. The attitude is still, “girls from good families shouldn’t go into films.” Their thinking will never change. My mother still wears a gunghat (veil). Veil is creating havoc to a civilized society.
I feel so lost at times.’ She is correct. Anybody will feel lost when she has to change her level all alone. She has to take her decisions in life all alone. Parents are worse than enemies in such cases who pursue the tradition of veil for any reason. Such conservative people cannot accept or understand and appreciate Mallika’s tremendous efforts. Mallika once confirmed, ‘My dad has not spoken to me for the last three years.’ There is no way out. The progress of the offspring of this generation has to pass through a dark tunnel without veil. A progressive society have to throw veil for growth. People have to unlearn veil.
Veil removal is directly related to sex. Sex is a very integral part of social evolution. An individual or society passes through the most difficult phases in handling sexual necessities. There are continuous up gradations, discussions and research going on to meet the demands of individuals. But the sexual needs remain behind the veil, concealed, disguised or obscured. Why draw a veil over humans?
Developing society is hardly mature enough to meet the requirements of individuals. There is so much hidden pressure and conservatives to acquire information. Marriage itself is not yet clearly understood and explored. The famous writer Shobha De when she launched her latest book from the ninth floor of the Taj Mahal Hotel in New Delhi, in her fantastic backless dress, it still attracted lot of shyness, glaze, media attention and discussion, but all under a veil. The removal of shyness could be the first step to explore the depths of sex. A simple step of removal of shyness or initiation of smartness has taken generations for a individual. The reason has been quite complex. The individual and society has to understand and conquer them first.

Munna Devi was a woman from a very small village. She hardly got any proper education. She was the sixth child of her parents. She was born to do service for society starting from her family. She used to cook food for the family of twelve. In villages and even in small towns, it is a common phenomenon. She is hardly aware of the time she started menstruation.
When she was fourteen, she was married off in a very remote village, where you reach after walking for about six kilometers. Her parents married her early because they got an educated bridegroom for their hardworking daughter. At the time of marriage, her husband was studying in class twelve in the city which was around forty kilometers from his village.
After marriage, there was the gauna, sending off from the parent’s place and as per tradition; she came to her husband’s village. She used to remain inside the kuccha house with her father-in-law, mother-in-law, nanad (husband’s sister). She, as a bahu, had no privilege to go outside the house in the daytime. Only during night time, she could go to field for her natural calls. She used to keep ghunghat, a veil to cover face, in front of the males of the village, including her father-in-law. Her husband used to come during vacations from college. They used to remain away from each other during the daytime and only at night, after everybody slept; they used to come close to each other. The same tradition of purdah, veil continued for a long time. She became the mother of six children.
Fortunately, the country was passing through independence and the concept of a liberal society. Because of the consciousness of her mother-in-law, her husband got a job as a draftsman in the public sector. They started living in a small town. After becoming the mother of six children, and spending fifteen years of her married life, she started talking to strangers who used to visit her house. She garnered this courage against her mother-in-law’s wishes who always used to volunteer to talk to any strangers. But after six children she also got the courage to come out. Whenever any visitor came to her house, her children used to open the door, she used to hide her face, inside the room and say, ‘Ha, Kya bat hai? Saheb tho duty par gaye hai.’ (What is the matter, Mister has gone on duty.)’. Even at that stage, she never got the courage to confront any adult person even her husband’s friends.
Time is the best medicine not only for the diseases or sorrows of the poor but it is a medicine for modernity too in a conservative society. Time changes things but very slowly. Time passed, her elder son Bhola crossed the age of twelve. He started seeing and understanding the world better. He was getting his education in the town school. He always applied his education to the improvement and modernization of self, family members and if possible society. He always believed modernity and prosperity are synonymous. He felt that there is no pleasure in prospering if you remain conservative in your lifestyle. He forced his illiterate mother to remove her veil on the arrival of visitors to the house. There was no pressure from the father-in-law because he was not staying with them. Things changed and the education of the small children of an illiterate mother brought about some improvements. After around twenty years of marriage, Munna Devi was able to talk to strangers without a veil. A significant change of civilization has occurred. This could be the few first steps towards modernity.
New research confirms a belief that society is the strongest and biggest ingredient in improving the life of human beings. They learn faster from their colleagues, neighbours and society than through any preaching or lectures. The change of place or society is thus the most important aspect of the growth of individual or family. Being at one place, you cannot learn better things or progressive things. Fortunately, Munna Devi was lucky. Her husband got transferred and moved to a better place in a better township. She could see a better society. Her husband could see the smarter people. Her children could see a better society. Her mother-in-law could see a different world.
At the new place, people were mixing more frequently and openly. Earlier she had seen the ladies in sarees only, but at the new place, she saw the ladies in salwar-sameez, kurta-payajama, a few even wore pants-shirt, jeans too. Her children were going to a good English-medium school. They were learning better things. Slowly she left her shyness, removed her veil, pallu, the end of saree from her head. She used to talk to strangers openly without the pallu on her head. It was a great individual change like a triumph. As per compulsive social needs, she started going to markets, she started going to clubs with the children to see movies, she escorted her children to school for tuitions and so on. Even though, she was illiterate, she started speaking a few English words like ‘one’, ‘two’, ‘apple’, ‘egg’, ‘book’, ‘thank you’, ‘Tata’, ‘bye-bye’, etc. She became educated. Her husband used to proudly say, ‘Mural’, lovingly he used to call her with this name, ‘has learned more English than many men in the village.’ He was correct. Changed society had compelled her to learn and improve.
Modernity has its own compulsions. Munna Devi also wanted to have some intimate friends. The concept of friend at the age of forty-five with six grown-up children in a developing world is worse than thinking of committing murder. But this is a need of human beings. It is a physical compulsion. The body needs something and gets fulfilled in its own way. A barber, Rajendra, used to come to their house to cut the hair of all the males of the house. He was very talkative. He was living single in the town. During the haircut, he used to keep talking to Munna. Slowly a relationship developed; Rajendra became a good friend of Munna. He used to visit almost every week and used to spend hours with Munna. This new development made Munna a very bold person. She started enjoying the closeness of her husband even in the presence of children and outsiders. After around twenty-five years of marriage, she realized the needs of her body and self. This kind of time, chance, environment and opportunities are required for conscious evolution of individuals in society in normal circumstances.
Growth has its own limitations and tragedies. When Munna’s educated son got married, she forgot all her misery, pain of progress and modernity, she started preaching to the highly educated bahu of a highly educated son to follow all those old traditions of ghunghat, veil, puja and respect for elders, etc. which she used to do when she was fourteen years old, newlywed and staying in the remote village with illiterate people around her. The old shyness and painful customs, which she forgot or rather, got rid off after a lot of coercing and forcing, she was forcing on her bahu.
With lot of difficulties and the wise tricks of her educated son, she herself learned a part of modernity in her lifetime with so much pain but when as a mother-in-law, she had to handle and teach her bahu, she went back to thirty years of life and forced things to be done in the same way as she did thirty years ago in that remote village. This is the biggest irony in the normal growth of human civilization. Progress, development and achievements takes their own toll but once achieved instead of forgetting the painful past and dreadful path, people are compelled to rewind old experiences. Can we not unlearn them? Is it such a big challenge? It all starts from simple veil. Can we unlearn veil to achieve desired growth?

Cursing the developed society will never make the conservative people of developing society to grow. Women have to throw their veils irrespective of their religion. Women have to burn their veil permanently for their development. Women have to unlearn veil for their basic freedom and privileges. There is no growth of any society whose female are in veil. There is no progress of a family whose female are forced to be in veil. Veil is the china wall between deprivation and luxury. Veil must be deleted from a dictionary of a progressive person.
Veil and conservatives continue because of social history. Life remains secretive in nature. Fearfulness of uncontrollability always threatens the spread of knowledge and wisdom. Every human remains quite overconfident of his/her control and prowess. But, who takes chance for others, that too for next generation? Unlearning even painful customs and traditions remains a big challenge to people of a developing nation especially when moving towards a developed society or develop nation.
People have remained poor and deprived even in developed societies whose female are in veil. The children are still dying as human bomb whose mothers are forced to be in veil. The brothers are becoming terror whose sisters are forced to be in veil. The daughters are becoming the followers of Osama to become human bomb if they are convinced to be in veil. Veil is the biggest enemy to freedom. For recent new coverage please go to http://360.yahoo.com/kamekish.
The history of appeasements is costing the people across the world dear. Who can forget the appeasement policy of Rajiv Gandhi in case of Shah Bano and now Imrana? Society is paying for all these fallacies of leadership. The growth is remaining illusive. Veil is keeping knowledge and wisdom away from people.
Frankness, openness, understanding of life, living like an independent and free soul, having the freedom to live like a human being, especially for ladies, comes with a lot of sacrifice, training, opportunity and boldness. A women or even men need to be courageous enough to reduce the conservativeness, forget about eliminating them.
Munna passed through so much pain, sacrifice and personal courage to come out of the conservative traditions of the veil where she was living like a ‘cow’ during the last thirty years. She was tied and milked as per the owner’s wishes. But the irony of the growth of human generation is that they are not passing this freedom and progressive thinking to the next generation. On the contrary, they want to take the people of the next generation back by thirty years. This is a tragedy of human civilization. Is there a surprise when veil in Muslims in India have pushed the whole community to the level worse that the scheduled caste. Veil will take the people back to Stone Age.
In a society, veil and such conservatism passes from one generation to next forcefully because the person feels comfortable to deal with that conservatism experienced of early stages of life. They are just not bothered even about the growth of their own offspring. In these conservative and selfish environments, sex has remained the most unknown, hidden and complex subject. Everybody feels that he knows enough about sex and there is no need of any education, training or experience. This results in the situation that we remain illusive about the biggest and most pleasurable aspect of life. Sex and growth are interlinked with the tradition of veil. We need to unlearn veil to have fun. We need to unlearn veil to have pleasurable sex. We need to unlearn veil to learn about growth and prosperity.
The growth is a very slow process. The economical, social and technological growth has impinged new hope to all deprived people including the women in veil. As the changes in last decades have surpassed the changes in last centuries, there is a tremendous hope that people will discuss and sort out those changes which provide a better living to people. Jack Straw has made the beginning by raising the issues. The present generation leadership has come out openly to make the change. The same leaderships who kept all illiterate and semidetached behind the veil for all these years for human history are forced to talk to come out of veil.
The young boys and girls are not going to follow the conservative traditions. Statistics show the changes in the mindset. The numbers of people trusting their parent in last 20 years has declined from 23% to 21% while those trusting a sibling from 21% to 14%. These declines in the existing trust between two generations are the good sign of growth. I conclude that growth is compulsive and changes have to be accepted by the people forcefully or by choice. Ideas Which Matter

I am quite happy and satisfied to announce that I have written about the issues which have come on the center stage of developing country like India. The day before yesterday when I uploaded my article, titled ‘Dangerous Optimism: A Crackerjack’ on my blog, BBC started showing ‘Tata’s acquisition as major event of India’ in its international news. The other issues raised followed.

Today is Saturday. I am happy to see that editorials of Indian Express and The Times of India have written what I wrote in my article. TOI editorial writes, ‘Om and the world, Diwali as a global festival’. Diwali is celebrated with fanfare in all corners of the world – from Natal to New York, from Singapore to Surinam. Diwali has something to do with the nature of the festival which resonates across cultures and geography. The issue has been clearly and firmly dealt in just one paragraph of my blog.

On the other hand, IE writes, ‘India of ideas and the ideas of India, Celebrate the fact that complicated new questions are being asked’. If you feel increasingly optimistic about India, you should also be looking at various questions. Editors write few questions which are as irrelevant as Intelligentsia of Indian society appears today. I feel that I have asked more relevant and burning questions which need to be asked at this time. I have asked those complicated new questions. You must read my post to know those questions. However, as I finally say that this is the time of celebrations and we should be alert and conscious about it.

To read my blogs with attached picture: http://360.yahoo.com/kamekish

I am feeling excited about the issues which I raised. I have not received many comments about my writings but with my understanding of the happenings around the world, I am sure that any body who reads by blog is fortunate to get the first hand information about the real issues India and the world are facing today. I write world class issues.

Further, when I raise world class issues, I also enjoy developing some theory and principle. These new developments need to become the integral part of our life. For the benefit of all, I have devised five steps to achieve excellence. I have published these steps in the form of an article. When I was writing this article for management blogsite, one very brilliant idea came to my mind. I would like to repeat that for the benefit of you all.

The other inventions of last few centuries have given the luxuries to every
individual while the recent technological inventions have given wisdom at the
hand of every child born on this earth in 21st century. The time is not far when
excellence will be the common phenomena of a rising society.

They are available at management blogsite. You can view, read and if feel excited then can comment there. There are many valuable management articles. You can enjoy them at your will.

http://www.managementlogs.com/human_capital.html

The five steps to achieve excellence are as follows:

1. Unlearning conservative ideas towards innovation

2. Selecting sources of wisdom

3. Ensuring encouraging environment (EEE)

4. Excellence is a necessity

5. Excellence is achievable

These steps have been elaborated in the above given blog. As I believe that excellence can be achieved by any one at any time, I am sure you all can take benefit from these steps. The time is not far when excellence will be the common phenomena of a rising society.

Think global, go global. Posted by Picasa

Kiran As Today's Godfather

India again felt proud of a brain drain. Kiran Desai an Indian born author, settled in England won Man Bookers Prize. She has hardly experienced the hardships of a developing country. She had been living in developed country. She had all the privilege and facilities of a developed nation. She had environment of a developed nation. She is fortunate to have all those privileges, even though she tells about her hardships. Is her feelings or Booker’s award justify brain drain? Alas some more brain drains should have taken place few decades back. But, when we can not do anything about it, why to talk about past? Can we make use of present situation for our future growth?

Resident Indians have to take few lessons here and there. The excellence creation is almost impossible in developing countries at this juncture. That is why the country is devoid of individuals who excels. The situation in the first decade of 21st century had been difficult in India. However, the way situation is changing; at least I find some hope that in next few years some improvements should take place. People in general will become more responsible to give due respect for excellence. Individual will be able to excel. World class creativity will emerge from new respectful and understanding environment.

As Kiran has won Bookers Prize, few factual incidences about her life of last few years are being written. News papers and magazines are writing about her. Now she has achieved international fame, but it would be interesting to know those old stories. I hope few lessons from these stories of non-resident Indians will help all conscious resident people. These writings at times work like a godfather. You will have to feel it to find it out. I shall just put those points one by one.

“I think more Indians should write,” she says.

The famous female editor from The New Yorker magazine was in no doubt about the quality of Kiran Desai’s new novel. “This is,” she told the apprehensive author, “the worst book I have ever read in my life. It is perverse, horrible and awful, and there is no way to rescue it.”

John Sutherland, chairman of last year’s Booker panel, noted that the book needed “a good going-over by a good editor”.

Her first book took four years to write and she labored for eight years on the latest. Emerging as a virtual unknown from her long self imposed isolation was painful.

The book had become a “monster”, growing out of control. “I wrote 1,500 pages and cut it down to 300. When I finished, it wasn’t greeted with great love, especially in England. No one wanted it. No one cared.” Kiran told after winning the coveted Man Booker Prize of ₤50,000.

Her book had sold only 2,396 copies when it entered the award’s long list, rising to 500 copies a week when she was short listed. It can now expect the 15-fold sales bounce of a Man Booker winner.

Transformed from obscurity to international fame is an instant.

Her grandfather was a judge who studied at Cambridge, just like her leading fictional character, although the latter was consumed by self-hatred of his Indian-ness.

She was shocked by the differences between India and the rest of the world. Although she says she still feels foreign in America, she is clearly a product of it.

As a penniless writer in Brooklyn, she shared a small apartment with a former clown, a fashion designer and a waitress. Their noise drove her to distraction and into the kitchen, where she wrote and nibbled biscuits. Eight years passed.

“I was living in a completely different time frame, completely isolated. I wouldn’t answer the phone in all those years. I was scared of it.” Publishers had forgotten her and moved on.

But one day last month the phone rang and an instinct made her pick it up. It was her publisher. Twenty calls followed in quick succession. The dizzy whirling of recognition had begun.

Indians on the path towards developed nation will have to pass through significant changes. The excellence will emerge from a better environment. There is a need to have urgent behavioral changes towards competitions and excellence. I have personally faced the situations since last more than one year which forces me to rethink what keeps on moving? What really motivates you? What keeps your balance intact? Kiran story may be today’s solution? Is it not a good godfather for the people like me for achieving those desired excellence? I shall explain how and why?

It would be interesting to study the responses I got from one of my highest educated relative. He is post graduate in Engineering from McGill University Canada. He communicated his anger on my work as follows.

I happen to read some of the portion of the book. Some of my initial thoughts.

1. Now a days anyone can become a write, simply its needs dedication, passion and hardwork. You have proved it.
2. As I said earlier, why you did not research the topic earlier, and may be would have got Master or Ph.D. for this. This would have given you more credibility to write even non-sense and people would have beleived you more. However, in absense of that, why you didn't got it forwarded by well known author.
3. I was not sure you wanted to write biography or wanted to give live and real example in making your point. However, you missed some points which is known to everybody.
4. Till now I got a mixed feelings. Some time I became happy that you took courage to write something, sometime angry as why you discribe so much of your personal details.
5. I don't know how much comfortable are you about yours detail, but certainly I am not comfortable with mine. At least make sure you take out my name out. I could easily ban the book being published at at least being circulated in US easily as it deals personal detals which most likely matches personal life without prior consent.
6. The book needs to be halved to be more focussed, concise and relevant. Otherwise its non-sense and random frustration of life.

Hope you get somethngs. Keep in mind we don't have much time to serf internet and blogging for nothing. Who will pay for this. However, you are lucky. Umesh

Recently, Umesh Prasad came to India and stayed with me. He is in US for last ten years. The quality of living style of his family forced me and my wife to cry. They are living a pathetic life even in US. I pray God, he could have had time to read my book. It would have helped them to live a better life. His wife is a post graduate. She is a home maker. She has free time to read. But she is not doing this. In spite, the whole family live a confused, disorganised and discontented life. The fate of children remain at risk in the confused environment. Hope, they remain free to do something better in life. I am pained because I have written one of the best book. I have my earnest desire that people read them and at least make their life better and prosperous

Dear Kamendra Verma

I have gone through the synopsis. The theme is good and so is your handling and presentation.I feel your book is more meaningful to younger generation than the older people and meant more for international audience than Indian. Publishing a book (by yourself)as I said earlier is easy but marketing is difficult, so you ahve to look for a publisher. For that you have to try really hard. So, make a beginning and best of luck DP sabharwal

There are many people who have not responded. The list is long and it may not be justified to list them here. All these occurrences depict one thing and that is the tremendous hardships in the path of innovation. It becomes difficult to maintain a balance between confidence and ego. The direction appears vague. The destination remains vague. All these are the challenges to leave the level to reach to a distant level. Any growing person can relate these situations for their own satisfaction and direction. The story of Kiran gives some hope and direction. Wisdom flows from unexpected sources. We need to be conscious and aware. Posted by Picasa

Gold Is Old

Old thinking and action processes are ruining people of any level. There is an urgent need of balanced thinking for simple growth. This appears to be a simple task for me but I get puzzled when I read news papers, see media reporting, listen to politicians talking or even at times professionals giving opinion. In a rising country like India and fast changing world, these people who control and monitor various existing media of mass-communication appear ridiculous as far as their thinking and action are concerned. I know that many people may not agree with my views at first stance but this is true and I call it a brutal truth of 21st century. Any body may be found ridiculous because of lack of knowledge and appreciation of the changes taking place around us unless he or she gives due consideration to his/her views and vision.

You may say why I am raising these issues in my blog at this time. I have reasons to write this. We need to understand the compulsion of journalists, reporters, politicians and even professionals. If we are aware about the ground realities, it helps us to understand this world better.

I respect Pronnoy for his excellent entrepreneur skill but as far as his thinking and action are concerned especially in 21st century, they still give the stale taste of 1947. Recently, he organized one talk on famous channel, 24X7 NDTV. He writes, “The lessons from the past, the leaders of the present, the dreams for the future.” He chose a title as Dr Pronnoy Roy in ‘Tryst with Destiny” as he analyses the Role of Media in India’s History with Vinod Mehta, Madhu Trehan, N Ram and Anita Malik. Be awake - Pronnoy, do not be kiddies. How can these people talk about dreams for the future? They are not the leaders of the present. Their lessons from the past may be as useless as your selection of title, “Tryst with Destiny”. India has come a long way from tryst with destiny. India today believes on its own wisdom. Destiny can be created through wisdom. Do not remind Indians about its pre-conceived destiny?

Destiny is in the hand of people. Democracy, free media and technology has given the future in the hands of every individual. You may be controlling NDTV, but think of other media which are available to the world. There are 55 million blogs operating in the world communicating information. There are thousands growing every week to quench the thirst of the freedom of individual power. Dr Pronnoy should not be able to influence people with misinformation.
This world understands the reason behind. People are also aware about Pronnoy compulsions to enjoy the fruit of closeness of few celebrities so that he keeps visiting with them to France or Italy. Pronnoy should have liberty to send any one to Frankfurt for International Book Fair along with Shobha De. But I request Pronnoy if he cares to propagate wisdom, he must think innovative and think better to think for the future. Do not fool Indians like Arjun Singh is doing to this country. Be rational to your listeners, your countrymen and your own integrity. You also understand what is correct for India today? Please no history, no regionalism, no religion, no casteism…. We have had enough of them.

There was news in the recently concluded Durga Puja that veteran politician used the event to propagate his politics. He used the channels which were under his power. Isn’t similar thing happening to propagate sickening regional feelings by the bosses of other channels? When you just observe the channel like NDTV, you can not deny the fact that they are mainly operated by Bengalis. They cover the news about Bengal and Kolkata. They always feel great in talking about our dada Saurabh Ganguly. They feel pride in depicting Madhu Trehan and N Ram as the leader of the present. They feel privileged to show Shushmita Sen or Bipasa Basu. They feel good in interviewing Shobha De. How can these hard core biased professionals be the leader of the present? How do they ever be able to visualize the future when they are unable to understand the present?

Life is complex and understanding your own thinking and action may not be very easy. Your regional thinking may be too biased for your growth. And that is what happens with the entrepreneur like Pronnoy. He may have grown with his old ideas for some time but for more overall growth, Pronnoy needs to change his way of thinking and action. Is it surprising that his old partner like Rajdeep Sardesai deserted him to leave him alone with Brakha Dutt? Like Pronnoy, all future entrepreneurs need to be cautious not about others thinking and action but own to decide about future. More balance thinking and action based on correct information may be the future, not anything else. Innovation does not emerge from repeating old ideas. Future is not the incarnation of past.

Fortunately, there are many other sources of information and news available to the people of this era. It is not very difficult to distinguish the differences when you intelligently observe two channels. One side when you see NDTV with Durga Puja, Sushmita and Ganguly, other side BBC talks about North Korea, Japan New Prime Minister and brutal Taliban’s influence on Afghanistan etc. There is a difference of appreciation of present and path to future.
To avoid this creation of ridicule of thinking and action, there is an urgent need to focus on few basic changes. I have listed few of them in the following table.

Thinking and Action

Unlearn Needs

Traditional and conservative ways of thinking,

Think only what you know,

Take action only on whatever you have learned,

You can not think better,

You can not achieve excellence,

You are born to suffer,

Old is Gold,

Brainstorming with mediocre people will work.

Learn Needs

Change your Learning Domain,

Use modern resources,

Change your views, contacts, and understanding,

Educate continuously,

Never rely on old knowledge,

Take a creative pause if not able to think big,

Gold is old,

Always act based on your advanced thinking.

I hope the concepts are made clear for the benefit of the futuristic people on the Internet. There is a need to make these medium more focused and authentic to reduce the reliability on the conventional medium. The people using Internet, Blogging or e-mail must get the richness of information and wisdom to face the future. And that is the present; certainly that is the future too. Posted by Picasa

Is Excellence Achievable?

I generally get puzzled when I read editorial of daily. Heavy handed government interventions may have thwarted the growth of individual excellence, but the various systems prevailing in Indian society is just not conducive for the comfortable survival of excelling individuals. There are many disconnect in the caliber of the intelligentsia of this country. They pose knowledge in part and try to communicate frustrations, deprivation and outdated ideas.

Is growing individual a superpower to be able to handle this misinformation? I say, no individual is superpower himself. Individual needs support, information and system to grow and become powerful. However, in the prevailing society structure, growing youth is at risk. These situations result in slow death of excellence. It has happened in last few decades quietly and comfortably in Indian society. Will it continue in this century too?

In the recent editorial note of The Times of India, editor writes, ‘Individual Indians excel not the country’. This statement is completely wrong. If editor of most favorite Indian daily writes wrong, what impression will the countrymen make for future? How can you visualize present? Is this the reason that life in this country becomes failure? Excellence remains illusive.

The fact is entirely different from what our editors feels, India is a shining example in the world today. Stock exchange index (Sensex) at peak reveals the faith of foreigners on India. India as a brand is on peak in the eye of the world today except few people (editors, journalists, publishers, reporters etc included) who have misinformation like editor of Times of India. India as a brand is famous, successful and proven. However, the challenge in this country is to have access of right information because all khandani thinkers have poor perception of present and almost negligible appreciation of future. They generally talk with herd instincts, which might have worked few decades ago. Today, you need knowledge. You need information. Editors must spend some time in acquiring correct information before they write editorial on famous new paper.

I do not know if editor of Times of India is aware about the front page article of the same news paper in the section of Delhi Times, which reads, ‘Does writing run in the blood?’ Dear editor, if excellence runs in blood then for your kind information developing countries can never become developed. Poor people can never become rich. RP Singh could have never become the fastest bowler of India. Harbhajan Singh could have never spun the ball to the tune of Indian skipper. Abdul Kalam could have never become President. Dhirubhai could have had the gene of Tata or Birla. On one side when editor writes about excellence, how can he say that excellence runs in blood? Editors are communicating disconnected wisdom. News paper must not communicate misinformation.

India is a country where most of the people still believe in copying. People follow herd instincts to even excel. I live near tennis academy at Delhi and I find surprising when I see small children of the age of 4-5 years old come from distance of more than 26-30 Kms to take a training of tennis. If Sania in third generation could achieve something remarkable, it does not mean that other will also achieve excellence. If you visit sometime to British Council, there are many small children with their mothers or servants, being forced to read books so that they can become writer. Does herd instinct take to excellence? Herd instincts will never take anybody anywhere. We can never achieve excellence.

India still has 70% population relying on farming. It means that if India has to keep up with the growing economy at more than 8-10%, around 400 million people have to be shifted to different professional activities in urban or semi-urban areas. This means that the large number of future caliber has to evolve from those 400 millions. They will be able to shine only when sufficient opportunities are given to them to excel.

Editors when they compile the paper for tomorrow, they must ensure that they are not pursuing age old conservative ideas to frustrate the today’s youth. If people have to excel how and why society keep concentrating on Khandani individuals. What is the fun in keeping on writing about Shahrukh or Amitabh Bachchan? Why should we show bearded Rahul Gandhi? Why do we waste time and energy in reading and remembering frustrating history? Can they ever inspire our youth? They frustrate them.

What is the fun in showing and writing details about Lata Mangeskar? If we have to produce next Lata for 2020, our media people should search and concentrate on new caliber and fresh faces. Why can’t media concentrate little more on Shibani Kashyap or Jyotsana Chinappa and others? Excellence comes from individual with total backing of social systems. However, Indian media abhors talking or showing excellence in their reporting except at editorial level. If such situation continues, excellence will remain illusive to the people of this country.

Recently, in an award ceremony in Mumbai, Prime Minister said, “Just few weeks back, at a similar business award ceremony in Delhi, I found that more than two-third of the nominees were not even in business in 1991! They were all children of reform, not necessarily children of businessmen.” (The Economics Times, Monday October 9, 2006). Alas, the editor could have read this speech from his own paper and understood the meaning of blood? Excellence will emerge from information and vision.

Indians have a long way to go. Almost in every field, we are at rock bottom in the world statistics. Infosys might have become a 2 billion company in last 24 years, but just think of any global company. Google is $1,465 Billion p.a., Yahoo is $1,896 billion p.a. and so on. That too, Infosys does 90% business with Western world. We should be thankful to USA and other European countries, which helped Narayana to build a dream for Indians.

Indians are still very-very conservative to use new ideas. Indians are very-very emotional to forget old traditional concepts. Because few people talk about new ideas and innovation, it has become a trend to talk about them without believing on them or without having courage to accept them. First of all, our editors or educated class will have to be strong to accept new ideas. Herd instinct will keep Indians away from achievement. Only new innovative ideas may lead to excellence.

Indian editors, journalists, thinkers, reporters and other professionals all are too busy in enjoying their present glory. It is not very difficult to find them in every party in Delhi five star hotels. You can always check them in any discussions, lectures or meetings irrespective of their interest of subjects. You always find them giving interviews and talks on television. Where do they have time to gain information? Therefore, is it surprising when all these people talk history only? Similarly our film actors and actresses hardly have time to do some creative work? They remain busy in selling pen, shirt, banyan and so on. Why can not they leave less creative jobs to beginners so that they can concentrate to excel in their own creation? Why should senior achievers remain busy in doing advertisements, receiving awards or doing menial interviews? Where is the time to excel?

A normal person needs just few grams of food, clean environment, good society and encouraging company. There is very less need for excellence. But certainly we need excellent environment to excel. We need world level competitions to excel. We need support and system to grow. The society must provide these basic amenities. The developments after 1991 have shown many Indians this brutal fact in reality. They are very simple and plain. Excellence will emerge from this simple situation. Posted by Picasa

My Prediction Came True

Just yesterday, I wrote a blog titled ‘Terror Confronts Mighty’ and clearly explained why the situation of terrorism developing around the world is in favour of India. Today almost all the daily news papers gave Nicholas Burns statement on the front page. I wrote my blog yesterday night and today morning all the dailies spoke my words. My prediction came so fast.

The Times of India reads, ‘Stop export of terror to India, US tells Pak. Islamabad must rein in Kashmir Jehadis on its soil’

Indian Express reads, ‘US to Pak: End terror attacks aimed at India’.

The Economics Times writes, ‘Ask terror groups to stop attacks on India: Us to Pak’.

US Under Secretary of State Nicholas Burns said on Oct 12, 2006, ‘We wish to see no more terrorism emanating from Kashmiri terrorist groups and we have told the Pakistani Government that we would hope that Pakistan would use its influence with these groups to curb and stop altogether any attack on India’

USA now does not want to see any attack on India. It is so clear. That is what I predicted in my previous blog. I am happy that it is happening this way. It has happened first time in the history of India-Pakistan conflict when USA has told what India will like to tell to Pakistan.

General Musharraf understands the vulnerability of Muslims. He warns openly that Pak will be no more if extremists win. Terrorism has to vanish from this world. It will be in the interest of freedom and life of all Muslims too. Mighty powers have taken the responsibility and I hope that it will bring peace to this world.

I am happy that my observation is accurate and precise. My understanding of the world scenario is in right direction. I hope that with the blessing of my yahoo 360 friends, I will continue doing it. Posted by Picasa

Terror Confronts Mighty

India fought terrorism all alone for the last sixty years. Since the time I was born, I have heard about Hindu Muslim riots. Muslims used to kill Hindus in bulk whenever they get opportunities. Hindus remain secular in nature. Since independence, governments have been able to suppress majority to avoid clashes in the country. Thanks to the democracy and freedom, proper amicable situations prevailed for the right kind of growth in the society. India has been fortunate to handle these religious differences alone through these tough years.

After 9/11, the world order changed. Muslims have declared USA as an open enemy. They have focused their attention towards USA. USA too has retaliated and confronted Muslims head on. They have used their own wisdom. They made Pakistan as a fighting partner, even though terrorists were groomed and prepared there. Terrorists are being still trained on regular basis. However, being the most powerful state, USA has a privilege to police these countries. They have done it simply and without any hassles. They have shown this in Afghanistan, Iraq or even in Lebanon. The policy makers in Western states realise these superiority, however there is a problem in clear understanding of the ground situations of disgruntled forces across the world.

Today when NATO general confronts Musharraf and gives him the address of Mullah Omar, it appears to me something like Indian Government gave the name and address of twenty terrorists just few years ago. Pakistan may not have given suitable replies that time other than they also gave the twenty name to India. But this time when NATO general makes a point, it is a different ballgame. Pakistan may not have chance to escape. Why only Pakistan, Muslims are trapped in their own shell.

Earlier, when India used to tell the world about Pakistan terrorist activities, USA or UK hardly ever gave heed to it. But, now the world has seen 9/11, 7/11 and London bombings and are now convinced about the ill plan of Muslims. Is it wrong if Straw tells Muslims to remove Burqua? Unless, Muslims give freedom to their women folk, they will never progress. They will remain poor. Children will keep becoming terrorists. Muslim mothers will keep crying in veil for giving birth to a terrorist. Salman Rushdie declared that ‘veils suck’. He gave his full backing to leader of the commons Jack Straw for raising the issues. Surprisingly, even in 21st century, the silent cries of Muslim women are not being heard by Allah.

In the name of Allah, Muslims are committing crime on their women. This is resulting in large number of death among Muslims. Poverty and deprivation remain a part of Muslim communities. Ignorance and illiteracy has become the birthrights of Muslims. I am unable to understand why these terrorist call themselves Muslim when they are killing Muslims? Muslims are the biggest enemy of Muslims in this world today.

A British officer says, ‘I feel real vitriol seeing our boys dying because of Pakistan’. NATO general is aware about these problems. They are conscious and taking appropriate steps. But what Musharraf is doing to stop Muslim youth becoming terrorists in their homeland? Absolutely nothing has been done. After many years of Kargil war, he writes a memoir about those Pakistan army personnel’s killed in that war. Once the youth becomes terrorist, it works just like unorganized military. Any body can disown them any time. Their lives become a cheap object. Muslim youths are wasting their life like these.

The dictator of North Korea or President of Iran may be out to talk about destruction without giving heed to progress and development, it is a shame. The Muslim country like Malaysia is thriving to become developed nation in next twenty years; there is no reason why other Muslim nations are not talking about development? China wants progress by organizing Olympics. China is showing the bright example of change management for the development of people. China has never felt shy in accepting Bill Gates Windows or USA Nuclear doctrine. In all these, USA has big challenge to maintain their growth. People are waiting to experience development across the world. USA has to exploit the situations for its own sustainability and growth. USA has a challenge to maintain world peace.

The rising country like China has to understand these threats of future. Today, they may not feel the heat to become the part of reducing terror from this world. But by the year 2015, when China economy will become comparable to USA, China is going to face terror threat from Muslim group. China needs to take today’s opportunities to curb the future threat. China must come forward to help USA in this endeavour.

India remains beneficial with all these developments. Indian Muslims remain conscious of their aspirations and growth except few who come in contact with Pakistani generals and ISI. In the time to come, India will be in a position to consolidate the situations and will be able to handle them for her benefits. India has vast experiences. USA has chance to exploit the experience of India to segregate bigger enemies. USA needs to move fast and firm. It generates tremendous hope for the peace of the world. NATO forces in the neighboring state must remain conscious about this ground realities. Posted by Picasa

Economics Times AS Godfather

The Economics Times of Monday 9 October 2006 front page heading reads, ‘ET STOOD BY US & GUIDED US’.
Simple Theory of Human Growth
In my maiden book, I gave a concept of ‘searching a godfather’ for all growing people. When I was writing this book and trying to elaborate the concept of godfather, it was real difficult subject to explain. It was more difficult to make the topic relevant to the people who may not have faced such dynamics in life. In the present era of digital world and information age, it is very important for us to understand the concept of ‘dynamic godfather’ (commonly called as DGF). Today, when Manmohan Singh talks to The Economics Times during the award ceremony for corporate excellence and confessed about the existence of godfather in his life, it certifies the factors of theory of human growth.
Without diluting the contents of Prime Minister Statements, I would love to put it down here for reference to editors of blog sites and all my blogger friends. ‘Let me sincerely compliment The Economics Times for thinking of this innovative manner of marking 15 years of economic reforms. I am truly grateful to you for inviting the five of us here. My cabinet colleagues Shri Chidambaram and Mr. Ahluwalia, my friend and advisor Mr. Rangarajan and RBI Governor Reddy were undoubtedly part of the original team of 1991. I must place on record the unwavering commitment of The Economics Times to economic liberalization and reform. In those early years, The Economics Times stood by us, supported us and guided us.’ The Prime Minister said.

Future Revelations
The world is all alone especially when you leave your level and move to a new and unknown level, domain and platform. Things change even in normal movements, forget about the changes, which are going to be encountered because of changes in level and growth. The moment you change the level, plenty of aspects of life change. Your circle of friends becomes new. Relationships become different. The people you are going to encounter on a day-to-day basis are different. The aspirations of the people around you change. The expectations of those people left behind get a surge.
With all these changes, it is a real challenge for an individual to face and sustain the new status. In a changed and new status, every other person appears an enemy. Not only appears, every other individual behaves like an enemy because of social and human compulsions. You, as an individual, cannot blame them. They are also human and they also have problems. They are there with all their human frailties. All this results to and leaves you all alone in this world to fight and survive.
Today society has become conscious. People have infrastructure for basic education and other facilities. It is very common to find situations such as a boy from a poor family topping the CBSE board exam, a daughter of a rickshaw puller competing for the medical entrance exam, the sons of a poor farmer getting admission into management institutes, a daughter from a small village getting selected for US airspace missions, and so on. Some of these boys and girls, when pass through various professional courses, they are left behind on the ladder of success because of non-availability of godfathers. Even if some are in a position to go to some distances, they are not able to sustain it for a long time. They are left alone to face the turmoil of life in a real sense.
What is Godfather?
When you are growing, you acquire knowledge, you acquire degrees, you generate and maintain zeal, ambition and mission. You want to excel. But how can you go all alone? It is a human instinct; you need someone, who stands by you, supports you, and guides you in your endeavour. In all probabilities, let us list out, what all you expect from a godfather-
- Helps to prepare resolutions of life at different stages,
- Suggests solutions during crisis,
- Helps to formulate big dreams,
- Proper guidance in your mission in life,
- Professional guidance to take decisions,
- Social or spiritual guidance,
- Improve the decision making system,
- Support when needed in life,
- Encourages continuously on a regular basis,
- During crises, comes back and tells you to move on,
- Provides a sense of availability and togetherness,
- Surpass others comments of surrounding,
- Keep hopes, aspirations and the future alive and brighter,
- Imparts basic physiological needs of an individual.
Amidst all the chaos in the world, the question arises, who is going to provide you all these. Who is there to work like a godfather? When you start growing, you get a feeling - you are alone. You do not have anyone on whom you can rely, in whom you can believe, from whom you can get support, somebody who encourages you to excel, somebody who guides you at a higher intellectual level, someone who excites your creative skills, imaginations, ideas, someone who enjoys your success, achievements and someone who is always there for you. But in this so-called and hyped global village, you feel - you cannot be alone? Let us try to find some solution.
Searching Godfather
In this era, information is available all across. We are fortunate to be educated. We are fortunate to be free to choose our language, religion, professions or even godfathers. It is not very difficult to choose from them.
Now I will show you two godfathers who have been with me in the long years of my research. They have been with me whenever and wherever I have gone. They have been my only continuous companions. They have always given me confidence. They have always reminded me of my worth. In the world of cheaters and deceivers, when I have moved alone in my endeavour to achieve a life of dignity, they have worked along with me day and night.
The best part of these godfathers was that they were non-demanding and non-committing. They have never asked anything in return. They have never tried to give me a bad opinion or bad impressions. They have never given me wrong views. The reason also may be simple. This may be because; I have wished to choose them. I have selected them on my terms. I have referred to them on my intelligence. They have been there based on my aspirations and knowledge. I have never relied too heavily on any of them at any time. I have never complained about their services, I have believed in their wisdom before I selected them and so far so good.
It is my responsibility and duty to communicate this to all of you who are in dire need of a godfather. This is required for those who have no godfather. This is required for those who want to achieve excellence. This is required when you want to cross and jump to higher levels. This may not be required by those who are happy with their achievements. This may not be required by those who do not want to excel. But for all those who want a godfather, just see the beauty; it will give a new lease to your life. The two godfathers are – Everlasting Quotations and Horoscopes.
Similarly, godfather can be created from the daily news paper. Today, it is the biggest source of wisdom for the growing people. The Economics Times is the best from all of them. This is reliable, authentic and regular. They never miss you. They live with you and probably will die with you. Today, when Kansi Ram dies, I remember one of the train journeys with him. He was a simple man with great ideas. He boarded the train at Delhi station with just one small suitcase and two news papers. He enters in his First Class compartment or rather coupe of two berths. Most of the train journey, he hardly talked to anyone. He read those news papers. Even in the night, I saw him just lying on the lower berth without any pillow or cushion or bed sheet. He always preferred to keep his life simple to have mind and time to solve the complex issues of society. What I want to convey is that, news paper can act like a dynamic godfather. Just try this. It has worked for Manmohan Singh. It will work for you all. To read the complete chapters on ‘Searching A Godfather’, you can join my yahoo group (iiuindia - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/iiuindia ) free of cost.
Compulsive Changes
As you grow in life, the beauty of this universe is that everything grows with you. Some may grow slow, some may grow fast, some may grow super fast, and some may grow dynamically. The things which do not grow with you are generally passive things. All moving, non-moving, dynamic things grow with time. Your knowledge grows, wisdom grows, qualifications grow, your library grows, your collections grow, the number of your friends grows, family grows, society grows, and nations are growing. You need to be aware and conscious of the growth of surroundings. That is the beauty- the beauty of life. If everything around you has grown, how could a source of knowledge not change? Therefore, do not wait or rely on conventional wisdom source. Search your dynamic godfather!

You can win Nobel Prize.

Nature is very strange. The growth of humanity takes it own pace. The factors responsible for the general growth of individual and society remain a complicated issue. It has taken centuries to resolve and get any clear-cut views on this matter. Scholars, researchers, scientists, politicians and other leaders of society had been putting in their bit to understand and clarify this complicated aspect. It is a continuous evolution. Today, when father and son get Nobel prizes and mother and daughter aspire for Bookers prizes, study of parents and children are discussed in positive direction. But since the time immemorial, this relationship has been put to disadvantage for humanity.
Parents in general act as the first role model for a person. The opportunities, exposures and options available to growing individuals remain limited. Parents with their wisdom and knowledge are in a position to guide the offspring successfully. This was the case a few decades ago. As I mentioned the Herculean changes, which have taken place in the last few decades have left this role model and path-bearer almost redundant. The child, by the time finishes schooling, is so well versed and knowledgeable because of present day exposures to ideas that her parents appear like fossils as far as the guiding factors in life are concerned and I will not be wrong if I claim that this is a practical reality most of the time except few exceptional cases like Nobel laureates or Amitav Bachchan etc. It is interesting to read this real life story.
Binda was the only son of his parents. His father Mungi was a very poor farmer, living in a very small village. He was a very hard working and egotistic person. He had approximately five bighas of land from his ancestral property. He meticulously ploughed the field. He used to look after his family of four from his earnings. This small area of land was the only source of income in his family. Life was going on smoothly. Mungi did not have any exposure for better aspirations. He was satisfied with his life.
Binda was a very studious child from the start. He loved studying. When he was in class X, he had to walk approximately five kilometres to attend classes. During the rainy season, he had to swim cross approximately ten raw canals by swimming to reach his school. His father never wanted his son to put in so much effort to attend school for class X. This level of study was good enough for his son. He always felt that more study was not required to plough his five bighas land. Mungi was correct. Why not? Even Mohan Das Karamchand Gandhi during the same time in South Africa felt the same regarding his four sons. There was no one in Mungi’s entire family who had been educated to this level. Mungi therefore did all he could do to stop his son from appearing for the Board exam. But he was helpless in front of his wife’s tricks and lady chall called intelligence. His wife used to borrow money and get guidance for her son’s education from her brothers who were a little more educated and forward looking. Ultimately, the mother and son’s efforts worked. Binda appeared for the Board exam and passed in third division.
Binda’s aspirations had no end. With the help of his mother, he joined college in a city nearby, approximately thirty five kilometres from his village. Mungi never liked all this. He continued hoping that his son would join him in farming. Like any other farmer in the village, he also wanted to plough the field every year and earn more produce to increase his wealth and ultimately increase his field from five bighas to at least ten so that his son’s family could lead a better life than him. But it remained his dream.

Binda had his own mission. He felt that five bighas was not enough to provide adequate income for his family. He always looked for better and greener pastures of the cities, which he had got a glimpse of during his studies. By the time, he was doing his Intermediate, he got married to an illiterate fourteen-year-old girl. When he was appearing for his Intermediate exam for the third time in the city, because he could not pass earlier, his wife was delivering their second child in his village. Because of the tension of the exam, he could not afford to go for the delivery. He tried his best to pass the Intermediate exam without any support from anywhere. He studied day and night. He stopped thinking about his young wife also for sometime. Just after his exams, he could not wait anymore, and went to the village to see his second child.
Binda was very happy to see his newly born, bright son. His mother was curious to know when he would get a job in the city. He promised his mother that after passing the Intermediate exam, he would get a good offer and job. After one and a half months, he went to the city to find out about his result. He was highly depressed that he had failed again. He was frustrated. He did not have anyone in life who could console him. The path of growth passes through lonely patches. He tried to console himself. When his mother came to know about this, she was demoralized, but regained her strong personality and advised him to look for a job.
Life is peculiar. Things happen at its own pace and its own time. It gives sadness, and then sometime it gives pleasure too. Within a few months of his struggle, he got a good yellow collor job in a recently opened public sector, ‘modern temple’ of Jawaharlal Nehru. He and his mother were very happy. Mungi was very angry at this development. He wanted his son to join him in farming but because of his wife, his son was spoiled. He was very annoyed. As such, he used to beat his wife on a regular basis. This time also he planned to beat her so hard that she would remember it throughout her life. It was a punishment to the lady for spoiling his son.
Mungi tolerated the new development for six months. One day when Binda came on leave to meet his wife for quarterly sexual overall, Mungi became very angry. He shouted at all of them. He picked up a brick and tried to hit his spoiled son. Fortunately, Binda was saved by God’s grace and her mother’s prayers (that is what his mother felt). But this was not enough; Mungi threw out Binda’s and his family’s luggage and wanted them along with his mother to leave his house immediately.
Binda with his wife and two small children left their ancestral home and landed in the small township where he had a job. Life is very cruel. Parents are supposed to be a support but that too if it works out well. Like property, a good wife, a good job, one gets good parents depending upon the luck, the lines on your hands. It is God’s wish to have sensible parents, especially for a poor person like Binda. But in the present who knows what is good or bad in life for the future? This is a million dollar wisdom.

Parents are responsible for the growth of their offspring. Through centuries of evolution, they have performed their duties meticulously; they are still doing it very effectively and efficiently. As we say, time and tide wait for none; time plays a very crucial and cruel role in the growth of a human being. The time has come when parents are becoming the biggest enemies of their offspring’s not by choice but due to situation. They are unable to grasp the changes taking place in this era of civilization. They can hardly perceive the growth themselves. They are not in a position to comprehend the changes, which are inflicting society.

Parents need to be cautious about these changes. All parents can not be Nobel laureates like Arthur Kornberg who won Medicine Nobel Prize in 1959, management guru Malay Chaudhuri who build IIPM for his son Arindam Chaudhuri, renowned players like Vijay Amritraj, successful businessman like Dhirubhai Ambani who gave Rs 100 crores 26 years ago to Mukesh to make 100,000 crores today, leaders like Ramadoss who made party for his son Jr Ramadoss to make him health minister, famous writers like Anita Desai whose daughter Kiran Desai won Bookers prize, and many more. But the real hard facts remain that when countries have to move from developing to develop in the time span of just few decades not even a life time, there are the serious problems of this relationship. Children have to become rebel to achieve desired goal. Parents have to sacrifice their life support system to witness successful generations. Both have to understand these difficult times to maintain their fondness.
Today, when son gets Nobel Prize, we talk about gene, but what about the millions of children who followed the age old deprivation, poverty, backwardness, conservativeness on the name of gene? Why scheduled caste children are still becoming scheduled caste? Is there some greatness involved in genes?
The fate of the children of 21st century can not rely on the gene. This has to be clear. The news paper reporting giving unnecessary importance to gene is useless and futile. If Kiran Desai becomes youngest female Bookers prize winner, there is no surprise. It is not gene. It is the accessibility. It is the knowledge. It is simple wisdom. It is just the concentrated efforts. It is simple ballgame of fabricated complexities of life. If Budhia can run 65 KM to beat the world records, the talk of gene remain a very conservative subject.
Children born in 21t century have privileged to do anything in the world. Bill Gates, Narayana Murthy and Abdul Kalam have shown it clearly. Next few decades are the decades for all who understands these seriousness and simplicity. Gene has nothing to do with your success. You all can become most successful and famous. You just have to know the tricks. You have all the chances to win Nobel Prize like Sushmita and Aishwarya became Miss Universe and Miss World. It is plain and simple. Posted by Picasa

Minority Dose for Majority

I might have done correct thing that for the last few years, I did not rely for information and wisdom on newspapers, magazines or written articles completely. I sensed the flaws in the system long back before it started creating injury to my being. Today, newspaper itself gives heading like, ‘Newspapers can be injurious to health’. And it is not only true, it is much more dangerous than even anticipated by normal human beings. It is more dangerous than talked in media or news papers.

Newspapers can be critical to your growth. One side when it supplements to your wisdom domain, on other side, it can be fatal. Newspapers have been successful in ruining not only the characters about which it writes wrongly and systematically but it is working as poison for the normal individuals. That may be the reason, even Mukesh Ambani said just few days back in one of the interview to the news paper that he did not read news paper for one month when the problem with his brother was at peak. Can a normal person rely on the news of the newspaper? I say – big Noooo….

Some of the biggest flaws in the newspaper are the quality and authenticity of news articles, the seriousness of the issues raised in it and subsequent follow-ups to build the cases. Especially, the front page of the newspaper consists of old conservative and irrelevant theme in its headings. Long back I was advised by some senior to read the front page news and editorials. Today, when I refer the front page headings and editorials, I feel ashamed in considering them worth spending my time. This is true most of the days. The issues are ridiculous, irrelevant and not justified. Most of the time, I feel disgruntled not for my sake but for the majority of the people of this country. The majority gets the minority dose. Problem is unique. Today we have means to prove its vagueness. I have summarized this problem as ‘minority dose for majority’. Why do not we get experts view on http://www.danielpipes.org/article/4025 .

The newspaper articles, even the television media headings are full of the issues, which have already lived its life. When Juswant Singh writes a book, ‘A Call to Honour’, it is a simple process of evaluation and critic, but it turns out to be big daily news about the irrelevant mole, which can easily be forgotten if Mumbai blast takes place. Prince, the boy of Haryana takes the front page news while it is not even supposed to be covered for single day forget about so many days. TV news covers Prince live for full day, and next day, news papers discuss about the advertisement prospects of Prince. Musharaff writes a book, ‘Line of Fire’, which may have some or other irrelevant information, but Indian news papers never fail to cover in the front page. Why only news paper, the entire Indian media covers these left and right. Why should we cover things which are not at all relevant, nor authentic?

‘Iraq war spawned terrorism, radicals’, said US Intelligence report. What is so great in it? Why Indian newspapers should be filled with such analysis? Terrorists strike America in its heart on 9/11 and kill more than 3000 people. The attack destroyed capital worth $40 billion. It does not end there. It generates confidence in all radical thinking youngsters to undertake terrorism as a progressive profession. Muslims young must be motivated enough sufficiently to undertake terrorism at any level. People witnessed successes of few such emerging radicals in terrorism during last few years. Even today Muslims leadership talks about moderate views without curbing the basics and root of terrorism.
Starting from Musharaff to Osama, they talk tough. The majority Muslims have no choice. They are forced to pray, protest and procreate. Unless people are directed towards real progressive life with hope and success, there is always a threat that young people from Muslim community will opt for terrorism. The war on Afghanistan and Iraq has given advantages to the West while it also give fear factor in normal Muslims to keep themselves away from terrorism. The fast communication medium may be giving an illusive report regarding enhancement of radicals, but in long run, the ongoing war of America is going to bring peace and prosperity to not only to developed people but also to the deprived and poor people of developing world. Which Muslim does not want bread and butter? Who wants to die? Why to concentrate on minority views when majority is going to be benefited?

The dose of minority for majority is not a new concept. In IIC-IDSA Eminent Person’s Lecture series on 3rd Oct 2006, Dr Arun Shourie rightly said that 89.8% elected representatives are by minority in current parliament in India. They have less than 10% casts of votes. Today, the situation is like that independent candidate can win election based on minority votes and dream to become Chief Ministers or Prime Minister. The leader wins election on minority votes and makes policies for majority without having any concern for majority. The reasons are obvious. They are assured to win even next election on minority votes. The flaw of democracy is intelligently exploited by few cunning and sadistic leaders. How long majority will get minority dose?

Even for the sake of leadership, there is a time of retrospection. I am not surprised when News paper writes, ‘the selection of news, especially front page news, is largely determined by the old journalistic axioms: Bad news sell better than good news’. Who pursues these old journalistic axioms? Certainly, they are followed by the old guard and owner of the news paper houses. They must correct themselves in the modern time. The bosses who command the front page headings must take remedial action otherwise they are going to be as irrelevant as their headings are becoming today. Now, the era of mass communication is ending. The emerging time is the era of mass generation and mass accessibility.

I have always conveyed to rely on data. But unfortunately the traditional intellectuals, who hardly have complete knowledge about the accessibility and authenticity, pursue the old and irrelevant concepts. These old concepts hardly take cognigence of available data. When 80% people say, Gandhigiri is irrelevant in today world, congress management is going ahead in all direction to spread Gandhigiri to achieve their own selfish goals. Munnabhai has been made famous. Shabana Azmai has been conferred Gandhi peace award. Manmohan Singh has been sent to Africa to propagate Gandhism. Rs 50 crores have been sanctioned to rebuilt the road of Dandi march. Anupam Kher has been awarded to work on issues like Gandhi. Gandhi will not help Congress to come out of its old and traditional ways to achieve political mileage.

Is it surprising when Finance Minister P Chidambram reacted on first quarter growth of 8.9%? He said, ‘Some numbers don’t lie. Some myths don’t die’. Can the old myth to attract followers by keeping them poor and deprived work any longer? I personally feel, it is not possible now. You have to opt for progressive data than conservative myths. Majority is aware about their rights than anytime ever in the human history. Majority wants the dose for majority. Minority dose will not work.

One of the major myths is the Hindu rate of growth (HRG). Who has spread and used this word HRG? Who is responsible if Tata could not build Indica in 60s or 70s or 80s? Is it any Hindu? Who did not allow any Ambanis or Narayan Murthies to be created in 60s,70s or 80s? The earlier growth was not HRG but it may be NRG and GRG. As Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission of India Dr Montek Singh Ahluwalia tells to the crowd in almost every speech, those growths were Nehru and subsequently Gandhi rate of growth. Based on that growth, poverty alleviation was promised which remained as dream. The country has experienced another NRG and that is Narshimha rate of growth or we may call it MRG i.e. Manmohan rate of Growth. Even today, who are becoming hurdles in achieving more than 10% GDP growth which is expected to remove poverty from this land? Any thing good happens to this land is hardly credited to majority. Anything bad happens, never goes beyond majority. Majority is suffering at the hand of majority at the cost of majority as well as minority. Majority may not accept this for long especially when the culture of majority has shown the world direction and hope for the future. The tradition of majority of this land has given the concept of globalization through Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam. Let us be little rational in calling today’s progressive growth as IRG (Indian rate of Growth).

India is a peculiar land. It is not surprising when 90% of the people feel to be reborn in this magnificent country. This is a country where 85% Hindus reside. This is a country where largest number of Muslims lives. The kind of freedom people get in the disgruntled system is the sign of emerging future. The majority is becoming aware and powerful. They have a sense of their growth. They have not only read freedom. They have not only witnessed freedom. Fortunately, starting from religious to regional and language compulsions, people of India have experienced freedom in every walk of life. The few disgruntled Intelligentsia who try to command the authority of the deprived people will no longer be able to fool people for longer time. People want their share of freedom, priviledge, prosperity, success and achievements. Is it surprising that Indian entrepreneurs are making headways in the growth of Asia? Majority are awakening. They are conscious. Majority wants their share of power. Majority wants their prosperity. Majority wants majority doses to build their future. Majority dose is needed for majority.

The situation is complex. The educated class of networked people feels the difference. I come across various news and views daily through different sites on Internet. I am fortunate to have access to many of the best newsletters on Internet on various fields of human concerns. I am happy to have virtual world of my own with different human needs like relatives, friends, seniors, colleagues, partners, God, godfathers and certainly a source of wisdom domain. The details of these parameters can be accessed from www.lulu.com/content/231873 . I feel privileged to have access to these vital infrastructures of the 21st century, which is making the ball game entirely different from the earlier one.
I have been blogging for approximately one year. This is providing me immense satisfaction to maintain my mental and physical balance. Till one year back I forcefully used to deliver lecture to relatives and friends, today I need not to do that. My friends and relatives must be breathing well. Instead, I have hundreds of willing intellectuals, sincere readers and miser critics who listen to my views and comment regularly. Blogging provides me the platform. In the time to come, Internet may provide some relief from existing drawbacks in the democratic system. Majority is expected to get the majority dose. Blogs like www.360yahoo.com/kamekish and sites will provide solution. Posted by Picasa

Do Not Learn

India is struggling to come out of the Xerox era in this information age. Today, India needs innovation - original one, not the Xeroxed creativity. But, surprisingly poor and deprived Indians, starved of publicity, are still feeling fascinated with minor growth and success. People with high resources and caliber are finding themselves contented with meager achievements. All these self inflicted contentment are keeping individuals all across the board to be satisfied with mediocrity. People remain far behind from achieving excellence. There may be many reasons for this but in existing scenario; I would like to discuss the Xeroxed sense of learning which are so ridiculous.
Who says learning is important? Gone are the days when learning was the only means to achieve confidence and satisfaction in life. In the 20th century, when we have material of over twenty centuries to learn, it is almost ridiculous to presume that anybody would be able to learn all this. Invariably as you learn, it becomes clear how little you know. When learning is not giving us confidence, then we are forced to think of an alternative. More learning is making you more bare and exposed. More learning is making you under-confident. More learning demands further learning. Learning is not at all the solution. If we just try to analyze the situation emerging out of learning, we shall observe that it is unlearning, which we are supposed to do for a comfortable situation.
A totally illiterate person has a terrific feeling that he knows everything. The person from a village or town with less or negligible knowledge appears very confident from the outside. It is very difficult even to convince the person about the utilities and advantages of education. That’s why in a few cases, we find difficulties in educating. That’s how a small child is sent to school. Children from an early age are trained to go to school on time. They are taught from the beginning to read and write various subjects. They are trained to be disciplined from the beginning. They are moulded from an early age. If someone does not get educated at an early age, it becomes very difficult to educate the person at a later age. He remains either less or marginally educated. He always has the illusion that he can live a better and successful life without bookish knowledge. These confusions prevail in almost all negligible or less educated people. The concept of ‘Do not Learn’ may not be applicable to such a person. The concept of ‘Do not Learn’ can be applied only to the person who is sufficiently educated. The concept can be applied to a growing person. The concept can be applied for growing or changing society and organizations. The concept can be used for those who want to achieve a developed status. The concept can be exploited for a sharp and exponential growth from the existing status. These growing individuals or institutions need ‘Do not Learn’.
Once you start learning things, you find that there is an endless list. Today, the subjects have become so vast that it takes years to finish the syllabus in one area of activity. A typical example is the study of medicine. You start seriously studying for approximately one and a half years for admission to medical college during or after finishing 10+2 schooling, then you take five years to graduate, one-year of internship, three years for post graduation, a few years for senior fellowship, then further research on a specialization and so on. It is a long list. As you keep acquiring this education, you keep feeling that you know less. This is the typical paradox of learning. Similar kind of learning is required in other fields. Take the example of information technology. Today, children are taught computers from the kindergarten itself. At any time, the education on information technology is never complete. A person can keep acquiring degrees and continue doing courses, but it will never end. Every year, there are plenty of changes. There are new subjects, new hardware, new software; new areas of activities keep emerging. You have to keep learning or continue refreshing. The learning never ends. On the contrary, it keeps increasing.
Can you ever meet your learning instincts? I feel a normal person with a normal intellect will never be able to achieve even a part of her learning desires in the 21st century. It is very difficult to define and elaborate learning needs. It is almost impossible to define the road map of learning for a child. There are a few very typical examples in society, which forces us to think about the learning needs of human beings. It is very interesting to learn a little bit about the learning instincts of some famous personalities, most of us are aware of.

Sonia Gandhi, the third powerful woman of the world in 2005 as per Time magazine,
Rabri Devi, Former Chief Minister of Bihar, India,
Bismillah Khan, famous Shehnai Vadak, Bharat Ratna Awardee,
Gyani Zail Singh, Ex-President of India,
Mother Teresa, famous Nobel Peace Laureate,
Lata Mangeshkar, famous singer, Bharat Ratna Awardee,
Zakir Hussain, renowned tabla player

It is very difficult to define the learning needs of life. There is no end to learning. On one side we have the above examples with us and on the other hand, I quote the learning instincts of a normal person. Punchsheel was very hardworking and sincere student. Because of some family pressures, he joined for the job in 1985 at the lowest rank (with the minimum qualification of matriculation) after completion of his graduation. Subsequently, while in job, he did his Master of Arts (MA) in English in 1988 from Meerut University. He did his MA in Public Administrations in 1992 from Rajasthan University. He got a Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching English (PGDTE) in 1995 from the Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages, Hyderabad. He did a Graduate Diploma in Material Management (GDIMM) in 1999 from the Indian Institute of Material Management, Bangalore. He continued working in the same organization. After all these qualifications, he now feels that he is lacking in computer education so he has started doing computer courses starting from the Basic Computer course from IGNOU, New Delhi. Thanks to the IT development of the last few decades, the gentleman will never be able to quench his thirst for learning. In spite of all this, he continues doing the same work for the last twenty years, even in the year 2005. His decisions impact hardly a few of his co-workers. His knowledge and sincerity of effort are the privilege of a few people and that too in a small remote place of a developing country. Can learning by this individual benefit society? In this world of Vashistha Narayana Singh of Basantpur, is it surprising to find the wastage of knowledge and learning? Individual efforts go haywire in the absence of a sound unlearning system. Puncsheel is not an exceptional individual in the developing world. There may be lakhs among the billions in the developing world going down the drain; I call it the learning drain. Knowledge and qualifications remain as cheap as the developing human.
Is there a road map of learning? Or shall we prepare a road map for unlearning? Once a person understands the dilemmas, it is easily agreed that there is no need to learn until there is clarity of the learning requirements in life. However, before somebody thinks of learning, it must be clear to the individual that there is absolutely no advantage of learning things, unless the person has undergone a systematic unlearning process. What happened to Dr Vashitha Narayana Singh whose research paper is being used as study material in Washington? He is compelled to live in the remote village of Ara, India, where electricity, water, road or even minimum medical facilities are not available. His heart wrench clinched to nationality is not allowing him to unlearn the necessary things and this result in an absence of the basic necessities in his life. Mind boggling contradictions prevail. In the course of our lives with the tremendous changes of environment and situations, unlearning needs have arisen significantly. The graphs of unlearning and learning need are to be continuously updated to face different situations and occurrences in this Super Dynamic Era.
In the midst of the Xerox environment, it is important that wise people keep themselves away from copying. Newspapers, Medias and all the medium of mass communication except internet, blogs and some modern communication systems, are just not aware about the Xerox trend. Such trend is not good for continuous desired growth. Wise people are advised not to learn irrelevant and ridiculous things.
