Epochal Shift - 6000 Years After Urban Centres Emerged

Epochal Shift - 6000 years after urban centers emerged. This population shift will lead to a new kind of city - "Hyper cities".
At times, what I feel that policy makers have significant problems in understanding data. Data itself is never clear unless we have sufficient ‘knowledge’ to understand this. Especially in Indian scenario, I can say with guarantee that this problem is very common. We have been very poor to appreciate the data properly.
One United Nations estimate says that urban population is expected to overtake the rural population by August 16, 2008. I remember predicting similar ideas in my book “Unlearn Before U-learn” written around a year ago with the detailed justifications which I observed to be very obvious one. The matter does not end here. By 2030, two third of humanity will live in cities. Keeping these changes and statistics in mind, I had advised my rural friends to unlearn village life. The data are becoming true with reality.
Civilization has witnessed tremendous changes in almost every aspect including GDP and employment. There have been tremendous changes in different sectors in the last few decades and these are going to change further impacting transactions. Invariably, there is a large difference in the understanding of facts by policy makers. This results in wrong policy decisions. They are unable to give emphasis to correct approaches. This can be seen in the following example. There are three major sectors –
(a) Primary Sector – Agriculture

(b) Secondary Sector – Industries

(c) Tertiary Sectors – Services including knowledge, information and value-added. This also includes innovative knowledge intensive products/services.

As technology leads to non-linear business growth, the predicted value for the year 2020 may not be totally correct. I feel that it will be different because of many social compulsions. Even if the prediction is assumed to be correct, there is a drastic need to change the orientation of thinking because of the following illustrated reasons–

1. As the agriculture contribution is going to be less than 10% of the overall GDP of the country, the agriculture sector needs to be made attractive, competitive and friendly. Accordingly, the priorities of the planner and thinker have to change.
2. As employment from the agricultural sector is going down drastically from 64% to 44%, the majority should move from conventional locations and profession to new opportunities in value-added services for innovation and knowledge-intensive products. Policy makers are afraid to accept the facts of this data.
3. The people working in the agricultural sector have been traditionally very conservative and rigid in their approach to life; they need to be encouraged to change their profession for the betterment of themselves and the country. They should never be given the consolation that their life-style will improve amidst deprivation.
4. The backward classes, scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, who have been predominantly left behind in the last few decades from being part of the economic growth or ‘India Shining’ and ‘Incredible India’ have to be educated and encouraged to move out off the frog well to harness growth of civilization with minor disturbances and dislocations. They should be educated, motivated and encouraged to move to towns and cities to take up better and well-earning professions with a dignified life. This is a sever diversion from the earlier concepts by the renowned thinkers of developing countries but this has to be adopted to avoid future catastrophes.
5. The Indian intelligentsia is still busy finding the strategy to bring down the scale of perpetuating rural migrations to big towns and cities in search of job opportunities which I believe is in total contradiction to the need of a developed society. We need to learn first and educate the others about the significant statistical changes which are taking place overthe last few decades. People must move out from village or smaller cities to the big cities. People must move to special economic zones (SEZ). Government must improve building infrastructure to support these movements. More planned SEZ is the need of the future.
6. IT and BPOs together earned India $12 Billion in 2003 and by 2012, it is expected to touch $148 Billion according to NASSCOM– National Associations of Software and Services Company. The number of people employed in the BPO sector will be over 200,000. This manpower will be available when the people move from conventional professions to value added services.
7. There is a tremendous scarcity of educated and semi-educated person in service sectors like call centres, BPOs, software sectors, R & Ds, manufacturing plants, etc. The recruiter needs to move to small towns and villages to appoint and train the poor, dedicated, sincere and hard working people for the benefit of this sector, irrespective of caste, creed or region.
8. The area where exploitation has been severe and no priorities have been given for growth, are more prone to attract the attention and demand of the new industries. Either resettlement plans in those neglected areas could be considered or people can be encouraged to move to planned colonies for better amenities and better work output for systematic growth.
9. In the last few decades, there are locations in India which have witnessed tremendous neglect from the planner to take care of the basic infrastructure like road, electricity and water etc. These are Northeast region, Bengal, Bihar, Orissa and Jammu & Kashmir. The situation is ripe enough to utilize for systematic growth of the new sectors. These areas have to be considered for future growth.
10. In the years to come, a large population will move from these neglected areas as mentioned above for a better life in Delhi, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Chennai etc. These movements will accrue many benefits for those neglected areas. They will reduce the burden on the land. The people who move out will get a better life. The remaining people will have more land to feed fewer stomachs. However, due to enhanced economical changes they will have to have a more sophisticated and systematic life. They will have to understand these changes and mould themselves accordingly. They will perforce have to unlearn all habits of so-called poor people.
11. The availability of basic amenities will broaden the living standards of large sections of the population. They will unlearn things faster to have a better and more dignified life.

Since the time, President of India APJ Abdul Kalam has talked and worked on PURA, I have my own predictions that these policies do not have future. These are the waste of government resources. We have to educate the people from village to move to cities to have a better and prosperous life. One side when President talks about big dreams on the other, he works on PURA to keep the poor deprived for life. Instead, government should join hands with private sectors to build a Special Economics Zones (SEZs) with basic infrastructure and employment opportunities for all.

The technological evolution will bring about the changes smoothly. The change practice has to be mastered by the population to harness the benefits of technology. There is a necessity of new thinking and ideas. Ideas should not be slaves of caste, region or religion. Ideas should not be the result of political compulsions. The ideas should not be the result of a selfish attitude. Ideas need to be rational, based on future prospects. Posted by Picasa

I am the Person of the Year 2006

I have been chosen as a Time magazine Person of the year on Saturday for the explosive growth and influence of user generated Internet content such as blogs, video-file sharing site YouTube and social network MySpace. I am privileged, excited and flattered.

I took premature retirement from normal government job at the peak of my career to join this bandwagon. I created blogsites. I wrote blogs. I created large number of friends on yahoo 360. I am fortunate to have 174 virtual friends on 360 and many more on other on-line sites today. They generated confidence in me. They showed purpose for my life. They brought ideas and motivated me. http://360.yahoo.com/kamekish

Based on the core issues of the theory of Unlearning, I have written a book, which is at final stage of getting published in India. However, when I wrote my book in 2005, I got first on line site lulu.com. When all the publishers in India refused to even speak to me on my project, the book is published on-line from Feb 2006 at www.lulu.com/content/231873/ . In the conclusion of this book, I have made ‘you’ as main constituent of this forthcoming growth and I feel that Time magazine has realised the power today. You are the Person of the year.

“For seizing the reins of the global media, for founding and framing the new digital democracy, for working for nothing and beating the pros at their own game, Time’s Person of the Year for 2006 is You,” the magazine Lev Grossman wrote.

How true each word is coming? Since last more than one year, I am writing blogs for nothing. I am spreading my messages without any preconceived results or expectations. I am trying to spread wisdom. Even if my relative, friends and colleagues wanted me to join a good job in some IT industry, I chose to write my views and spread democracy of knowledge and wisdom through blogs and different site. I found the power in you all. I am proud of you all.

I am thankful to the blogsite like Sulekha who made me star blogger and given me prestigious rank below 1000 and wrote my name in bloggers list. Sulekha made me featured blogger for its Current Affairs section where I wrote extensively on current burning issues. http://www.kamekish.sulekha.com . It is a great journey.

As I always feel, we need to share more information. We need to share our thinking with all like minded people to generate confidence in life. I thought, creating a group will be a good step. Yahoo provided me the option free of cost. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/iiuindia
It helped me to make me the Person of the Year 2006.

Wide Experience Pays

India is a vast country. I had been fortunate to visit all nooks and corners of this huge country in last 25 years. I have not only seen places, I have lived, experienced and analyzed. Even the book which I have written is the result of my conscious living of last 25-30 years. I feel that knowing this vast country is a challenge. I have met this challenge in the year of Information age. The technological tools have provided me instruments to steer the course of history.

I have worked on creation of godfather and wisdom domain. When, I receive different point of views, I feel that creating godfather and wisdom domain for self and for the benefit for all are coming true. The technological resources are providing us tool to achieve the tasks. Today when you and I am the person of the year, I generate more confidence to build a better and conscious society. You are the part of this consciousness.

In almost every Blog, I have written my views freely and without fear. I feel that there is no need to feel inadequate. You are power. You are the force of the coming change in society. You must feel complete. Be positive, learning or unlearning will come to you correctly. I have got continuous encouragements from my friends across the globe who made me feel that I was in a right direction.

I have written extensively with the hope that people are able to come out of daily ruts, frustrations and depressions to live and contribute for a better world. I have especially talked about seven critical factors which are making us distinct and successful in this 21st century. You have proved that they work.

How to conquer Future?

Just read the actual writings done last year by me in the book – “Unlearn Before U-learn”.

Thinking of Development without YOU!
It is next to impossible to have a development where it does not take the shape of a Mass movement. Society can never get the pleasure of development unless all the people around are not developed. ……

Slums and flats side by side will remain dangerous for humanity. We must try to find a means to replace all slums with the flat system where all the occupants have all the necessary ingredients for a prospering and developing society like clean water, clear drainage system, electricity, medical facility, telephone network and coverage, cable TV or broadband connectivity, road, nearby bus and train terminals, good schools and park in the near vicinity, good shopping complexes, good security for individuals and property and so on. It is not very difficult. When a big corporative could be established for a large section of fragmented population, these basic amenities of life through proper housing could be provided to people.

The involvements of large number of people are necessary to achieve better results. The changes are very difficult to comprehend and implement. But it is mandatory to provide basic human rights to the people……..

These changes because of compulsions will enhance the standard of life. It should never happen to the people of this era of civilization that the energetic and dynamic person has to come back to slums and stop the development of individual and society. Similarly, the rich and educated have responsibility to maintain their standard life. They should not mix richness with cheapness….. and so on….(refer book.) These chapters can also be downloaded free of cost from
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/iiuindia )

I wrote these lines in the year 2005. Today, Time magazine almost confirms these ideas. The magazine has put a mirror on the cover of its Person of the Year issue, released on Monday 18 Dec 2006, “because it literally reflects the idea that you, not us, are transforming the information age,” Editor Richard Stengel said in a statement.

I (or You) beat Tough Competitions

I beat out candidates, including Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, China’s President Hu Jintao, North Korean leaders Kim Jong-il and James Baker, the former US secretary of state who led Washington’s bipartisan Iraq Study Group. I am proud to be better than all of the above mentioned people. Because my concepts for a better and futuristic world is more precise and clear than all of the above mentioned people. You all have confirmed to me through your writings and comments. You have made me the Person of the Year.

Time has been naming its person of the year since 1927 and the tradition has become the source of speculation every year. Now only I came to know that earlier also once, I was declared Person of the Year in 1966 when Time declared this status to the 25-and under generation. I was just five and Person of the Year.

I am happy to make lot of American female friends on my Yahoo 360. Today, I am proud to say that most of them were also declared the Person of the Year earlier. As Time declared American Women as Person of the Year in 1975. Congratulations to all of you. You all have made me proud.

Dilemmas of Developing Nation

I wrote a book after leaving my regular job. I was looking for publishers. When I found it as tough job, I moved to some on-line systems like lulu.com and 360.yahoo.com and then I found the ways to express myself. Approximately, one year passed, I have been writing regularly for many sites without any remuneration. I have not got any financial assistance to do this job. But everyday, when one or other person was benefited of my writings, felt well. I felt the purpose to carry on. One side, I worked for my book publication while on the other I spread my knowledge. At the same time, I gained extensive knowledge. It helped me to create wisdom domain for me and many others.

“It is about the many wresting power from the few and helping one another for nothing and how that will not only change the world, but also change the way world changes,” said Grossman, Time’s technology writer and book critic. That is what I felt through out my last one year of blogging. Even if I did not get sufficient encouragement from different quarters, I remained firm. I was surprised with the conservative ideas of even big thinkers of the country like Jagmohan, Arun Shorie, Medha Patkar and Congress Managers. I confronted them and found them lacking. The nation faces the music. The deprived population faces worst results of the faults of their leaders. Life is a tragedy if we do not understand properly.

“The tool that makes this possible is the world wide web,” Grossman said. “It’s a tool for bringing together the small contributions of millions of people and making them matter.” The exploitation of the modern technology was started by me with my Electronics engineering degree in 1985. Just before that, Time had declared Computer as a Person of the Year in 1982. Accepting correct tool and medium can take you long way.

Changing Scenario

“These blogs and videos bring events to the rest of us in ways that are often more immediate and authentic than traditional media,” Stengel said. How correct these facts are? Especially for the developing countries like India, where all conventional media are governed and controlled by people whose thinking is of medieval era. Blogs provide us updated information. Blogs are the good source of wisdom domain. Conventional media or even TV continuously feed people with the conservative ideas. New medium is a boon for the people who want to grow. I always give emphasis on this aspect of human needs.

Presently, I am writing for various blogsites like Sulekha, Blogger (On Human Resources concept), the details are given in my signature space.
http://www.kamekish.sulekha.com and http://www.kamekish.blogspot.com or http://www.managementlogs.com/human_capital.html

I have written broadly on human growth. You can always find my management theories on the human_capital site of blogger. It is a great experience to get the exposure of the world even though you are surrounded by developing people who want to remain developing.

The way I have lived my life with the ideas and www, Time’s declaration has confirmed my resolve for the future. I have felt it so. I have written extensively on this. You all are futuristic who do not go conventional ways and opt for this futuristic means. You all are great who do not sleep in the night to communicate to the people across the globe. You share ideas and suggestions. You carry out your businesses and professions. You achieve pleasure. You share excitements. You share intimacy and make love. You share commitments. You learn and unlearn regularly.

I feel that I am the Person of the Year like all of you.

Reduce Stress Thru Unlearn

Note: The issues mentioned here can be used by one and all however is more so applicable for the employee and executives of Call centers, BPOs or other IT and ITES companies. Any specific question resolving complicated issues are always welcome.

Growth and Stress

The developments, which were witnessed in the Western countries, took more than 100 years to mature. The long period of 100 years provided enough time for individuals to unlearn and make changes. They remained comfortable unlearning and learning new things over a period of a few generations.
But the kind of development, Asian countries are witnessing or shortly will be witnessing in the Information Technology era is hardly giving time to individual in one life-time, forget about generations. Practically facing the situation is really mind-boggling. That is where, the importance of unlearning is vital not only for individual growth but for the growth of society, state, country and humanity.
The changes are not affecting million but billions (As per estimates of 2004, 1.1 billion people live in extreme poverty). The development estimated in next few years has potential to bring many towards a much comfortable financial situation. However, handling situation on personal and social level will throw a huge challenge to all of us. The new kind of stress related syndrome can be witnessed in the growing society.

Unlearning is key to Stress Management

The skill for unlearning has to be acquired, harnessed and innovated. The NGOs and other charitable organizations have to come forward to take up these Herculean tasks of eliminating social gaps. The human rights activists have to initiate their activities in these directions. Unlearning has to be converted into mass movements.

Areas where Unlearning mandatory

The following areas deserve mandatory appreciation and understanding.

1. Living Style – We have to forget to live a poor life. We can not hate rich. We have to create and cultivate habits of the rich. In every aspect of life we have to see how we can improve our lives. We have to work out the means and process by which we can be in a position to provide the basic amenities to every one. It is next to impossible to provide today’s basic necessities to slums or road-side houses. We must create societies to provide the basics amenities. And for this we will have to unlearn slums, road-side and other related living habits. We should never look towards SEZ or Singur as a threat. Rather, they are the options to unlearn.
2. Family structure – The family is a very important constituent of an individual life. The concept of joint family in today’s knowledge world is a curse. In a joint family, the biggest sufferer is the individual, especially the girl child or female who faces the brunt of the rotten system. She loses her identity. She is taught to sacrifice all her desires, ambitions and aspirations. In the old times, a joint family was support for individuals to grow, but today, the individual needs all sorts of different infrastructures to grow including good food, efficient institutions, reliable connectivity, time for creativity and so on. Individuals should have the privilege to live their own lives. We will have to unlearn many prevalent traditions and follow new rules.
3. Eating Habits - Good health is a very important aspect in life. Good health in the long run is achieved by good eating habits. These habits are not available ready made. One has to learn good eating tactics but before that bad eating habits and associated fears have to be unlearned. Eating habits should be created based on expert advices rather than trivial preachings. It should never depend on old traditions. Bad eating habits consume a lot of time. Without improving eating habits, it is not possible to keep healthy, it is not possible to have creative time, it is not possible to enjoy life, and it is not possible to become developed.
4. Global Language – Every educated individual and policy maker of the nation should think about the language issue. We should not keep the regional language for the poor and deprived people. We should provide equal opportunities to them to learn a global language. All government-run schools must teach English from primary school to bridge the gap between rich and poor. The government rather than talking about the first claim on resources, should provide equal opportunities to learn modern education and up to date wisdom. The poor should not feel it as their duty to force their children to study the regional language. We must learn and ensure that others learn the global language. Knowledge of the global language will pave the way for a very bright future of a developing nation.
5. Religious Faith – One recent study confirms that people are very religious in nature. But we need to understand religion for the benefit of human kind. Rather than generating blind faith, we must create a religious environment where people are respected and no discrimination exists in society. Religion should make us better individuals rather than crippled and burdened ones. We must restrict religious activities to generate a good life. We should never allow ourselves to think that God will do things for us. God is not going to help anyone unless a person tries to improve her own life. God has given us everything and we have to create our world with growing knowledge and sustained effort.
6. Understanding Self – It is very essential to understand oneself with all human frailties. A person knows herself best in this world. No other individual knows her better. She must take decisions in life according to her basic necessities. She has to make herself healthy, happy and knowledgeable to make this world a happier place. Without keeping yourself happy, you can never think of a happy world. We must unlearn other teachings to realize the importance of self. Self is essential and important. If you cannot understand and take care of yourself, you can never take care of anything else.
7. Education – Quality education broadens the views and vision of a person. It helps us to understand the world better. It promises to make life and this world a better and enjoyable place. One can have any amount of assets and resources but enjoyment and success come from balanced understanding. Understanding develops from good education. We must unlearn that education is necessary for a job only. Education is essential for a balanced happy life. Education should never mean that children are forced to study a particular book or epic. In that case, the purpose of education gets defeated. We must allow our children to get education on the subjects which open their thinking skills. Education must enhance constructive creative mentality. This will ensure the growth of humanity at large.
8. Entrepreneurship Skill – When we are entering the era of the developing domain, it is important to understand the needs of the time. We should never depend upon the government agencies to help us, but we must generate innovative ideas to create an environment where a large section of people get benefited along with self-development. In this Innovative Century, entrepreneurship skill with the right aptitude and correct unlearning skill can do wonders.
9. Working Culture – We must create a good work culture in our blood. We should forget and unlearn the old work ethics. Now as we are going to be a part of a developed world, we should feel proud and privileged in our work whatever and wherever we do it. We should create a work culture like China or Japan. People should not turn their faces on visitors during working.
10. Social obligations – We cannot be happy in isolation so we must try to fulfill our social obligations. We must take some time to think of our society’s development. We must see how people around us grow. We should try to create better and healthy surroundings. We should work hard to develop parks and other recreation centre in our neighbourhood.
11. Social Interaction – Technology is the biggest tool to interact with the world. We should be open enough in our thinking and action to exploit the privileges of this era. We must interact with all human beings on this earth. We must unlearn earlier interaction instincts, which were mainly based on caste, language, region or religion. Society has suffered heavily because of caste and religion-based interaction in the last century which should not be allowed to prevail in the new era.
12. Eradicating Discrimination – Social discrimination has been a critical and prominent part of the human civilization until just a century ago all across the world. However as society developing and education and prosperity increases, the discrimination between humans is vanishing. But, discrimination is still the biggest challenge to human civilization. It is like a cancer to humanity. We must make a policy so that all human beings are considered equal. There should be no need of reservations. Has America ever thought of reservations for the Blacks to eradicate the drawbacks of black society? Is China doing anything like this? Indian political bosses also should take a lesson and find some substitute for reservation for backward classes, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, Muslims or even women. We must eradicate discrimination by removing reservation. Why educated doctors, engineers and other professionals have to face police atrocities to eradicate this discrimination in society? We should take other steps so that all humans treat other humans equal. Reservation remains a biggest source of discrimination.
13. Natures responsibilities – Once we are on the way to becoming developed it should be our responsibility to ensure that the atmosphere around us remains healthy not only for us but for future generations too. We should be ready to take hard decisions to make our air clean and healthy like Jagmohan took tough decisions as a Cabinet Minister and implemented CNG in Delhi. Supreme court moved polluting industries out of the city.
14. Global Thinking – We should not restrict our acquaintances with people of one country, rather we should move across the world. We should be ready to accept calibre from any part of the earth to improve life. We must unlearn the old missionary phobia. When Bill Gates of Microsoft Corporations can fight to remove ‘visa’ restrictions in the United States of America, there is no reason why we should not enhance the system and improve infrastructure to attract brilliant minds from across the world in various fields.
15. Global Family – We must consider the whole world as one family. We should cross the barrier of religion, region, caste or creed in relationships and marriages. Generally, we were content with meeting and marrying on the basis of caste, language or region. We should stop marriages based on caste or region. We must learn from Hema Malini and Amir Khan. The time has come when we should openly welcome and institutionalize the entry of people from across the world. We should stop asking people their caste and region to form an opinion or have a companion.
16. Democratic Behaviour – The time has come to accept basic democratic behaviour in our personality. It is next to impossible to have a prosperous world if society is built without the contribution or sense of involvement of each and every individual rich or poor, male or female, educated or illiterate, without caste barring, believers of any religion or faith, etc. Democracy cultivates a sense of involvement.

Many views with typical solutions appear in media to counter emerging stress in society, but in my view, the above mentioned points need specific attention from all the concerned people to combat stress threat. Posted by Picasa

Gandhigiri Kills Innovation

In a society, where human rights are violated left and right, the exploitation of poor and deprived are taken for granted, the clear violation of democratic rights is maintained for the sake of power and positions, illiteracy is considered a bliss for continuance of undisputed leaderships and poverty is continued at the cost of large sections of deprived population, it is shame to talk about something like Gandhigiri.

I get surprised when Institutional efforts are systematically put in action to ensure the continuance of Gandhigiri in this country. I am surprised to see the ignorance of policy makers of India in pursuing such irrelevant and outdated concept like Gandhigiri. I am devastated on the wisdom level of such managers who propagate such systematic misinformation in this information age. I feel pathetic about the leadership who glorify themselves for continuance of Gharib (means poor).

Gandhigiri is not at all advantageous to any section of society. It has lived its life. We have wasted much of our time, money and resources in acquiring the detail of these historical achievements that I feel pathetic about the prevalence. We have shamefully exaggerated the glory of Gandhi to ensure the continuation of a single family dominance on the history of such a vast and colorful country called India.

We have many new ideas and concepts to learn and understand. Gandhi has taken plenty of our mind space and today, it has become a burdensome to carry with that information which is almost irrelevant. The idea of Gandhi is making the people mediocre. The idea is keeping the people away from excellence.

Gandhigiri has ensured unnecessary positiveness in deprivation. It has become a tool to forcefully ensure contentment for the people in poverty, lawlessness, failure and mismanagement. The society is unable to get the basic human needs. Talking about Gandhigiri is something like talking about post graduation to an illiterate person. It is something like talking about five star cuisines to a hungry man on street. It is something like talking about air-condition who does not have cloth to put on. It is a slap on the open face of poverty.

In this society, where few people have taken power and high authority for granted, talking about Gandhigiri or non-violence has no meaning. Without having capabilities to govern, rule and manage, few people are trying to rule large population. The situation appears to me like one of the medieval period. This has to vanish. I am doubtful about the wisdom of such people who have taken all powerful positions for granted without understanding the vulnerability even though they have suffered miserably in the past. In the networked environment, more people will be able to understand these hidden games played by the few resourceful people.

There is a clear warning to all the people of 21st century. If you remain attached to your past and even the present gifted by ancestors, there is a possibility that you are going to encounter biased results and illusive achievements. They are not going to work for a long time. The changes which are taking place in society do not allow one to accept things easily.

Rahul Gandhi may go some distance based on the empire built by his great grand-parent, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, but he would not be able to go very far. In the 1960s or 1970s, empire building might have been easier. In three decades of rule, Nehru could ensure momentum for the few generations to continue ruling the largest democracy in the world.

Even in the nineties and the beginning of the 21st century, empire building mechanism could be traced in every decision-making process in a democratic country. Even now, buildings, stadiums, flyovers, roads, colonies, colleges, IT parks and establishments are being built in the name of Nehru, Indira, Rajiv, Sonia, etc. We are unable to find any other attractive and good name. Other rulers come and go without giving their name to any of these new constructions. An Ex-Prime Minister, dead body did not find place in the capital because his relatives are feeling homesick even if they have never stayed with him. Recently National Thermal Power Station was named after Firoz Gandhi. Is Gandhigiri has to do anything with these developments?

But all these may not go very far in a civilized world which is emerging due to technological inventions within a very short span of time in the 21st century. The easy accessibility and availability of information through various means provides ample opportunities to find truth beneath contempt.

Recently, so much hue is being created with selfish interest regarding Gandhigiri. The actor like Sanjay Dutt, who has already been kept in watch for committing a crime during 93 bomb- blast, is projected as a scapegoat. It is ridiculous for the nation who faced threat from misguided and disgruntled youth. There is no point giving so much significance to one individual who has failed at many stages in his own life. Is it right to project such defective hero in this hero-starved land?

This is the same Sanjay who has drugged himself at the age of 21. Thanks to his powerful father that he was brought to life. He marries Richa Sharma a bitter, brief union and crash land into disaster. In Lage Raho Munnabhai, he plays as a gangster. Why are we shamefully relating Gandhigiri with this gangster character?

Sanjay is guilty of possessing illegal arms under the Arms Act. That could mean another five years to freedom. The person who has been unable to create a wisdom source for him in spite of such a powerful family background can never be a hero of this great land like India. Linking Gandhi with such person may be a scar on the glory of the father of the nation. Was there any need for Bollywood to rally a campaign for Sanjay? Thanks to Bollywood that they called off such shameful campaign. Wisdom or fear prevailed at last!!

Earlier, we used to take care of the moral value of the people before projecting him at national level but today because of our selfish interest we tend to forget these basic aspects. Media keep writing about these because of their self interests. Leaders keep talking about these. Even Prime Minister is forced to talk about Gandhigiri. He was forced to see the movie with his family. He has been forced to speak twice in public (once in Durban and other at CBI’s Biennial conference) about the movie and Gandhigiri. What a tragic mentality of our policy makers?

Few years back, even Anupam Kher made a movie based on Gandhi. The negative and sick psychological impact of Gandhi has been demonstrated in this. However, I am unable to understand how these negative traits are shown as a positive personality trait? Gandhi generates a fear psycho in the mind of normal people with the kind of Gandhigiri which have been spread in India after independence. These traits are ruining the sentiments of individual. The country is unable to mass produce excellence. In this era, when excellence is must to achieve success, Gandhi creates mediocrity in the system.

Similar to Gandhi, we have many historical personalities which are ruining the Indian systems. One of them is Ambedkar. Keeping the existing situation in mind during freedom, Ambedkar proposed to have reservations for ten years after independence. But what is the situation on ground? People are unable to get rid of reservation and Ambedkar even after 60 years. How long can you build your future on past personality and old policies? Today, when even Moor’s law of electronics industry have to continuously change to meet the growing developments, there is no reason that we do not forget reservation and Ambedkar. There was no reason for all the deprived people to gather in Mumbai to celebrate the birthday anniversary of Ambedkar. There was no treason to bring Mumbai to halt on the name of Ambedkar. Even if reservation provides you education, good lives remain a lure. Facts must teach some bright lessons for future.

Ruling party has some interest in continuation of Gandhigiri in society. That may be the reason, all the programs related with Gandhi approved and implemented on top most priority. Dandi March pathway were clear for reconstruction. 1857 will be celebrated to remember Gandhi. Programs are being organized to spread the messages. Awards are given based on these issues. A systematic and organized propagation of Gandhigiri is conducted to cripple the society of its ego. Gandhigiri ensures ego less society where no body has any respect for anybody except Gandhi. Individual excellence remains a slave of mediocrity.

After independence, we had many people who have sacrificed their life in bigger proportion than what Gandhi did for this country. There is an urgent need to fabricate history in real and practical perspective to avoid vacuum ness of hero from this land. Past glorifications will never guarantee future growth.

Gandhi has lived its life. Gandhigiri has no relevance except some political mileage. Excellence remains illusive in the Gandhian approach towards life. Gandhigiri must go. We must unlearn Gandhi and Gandhigiri immediately. Posted by Picasa

China India Story - Institution Vs Individuals

China and India are two distinct lands. Because of the border proximity, it is always felt comfortable of comparison. The economists have already given the impetus to dig into these contradictions. The visit of Chinese President has brought this comparisons and discussion to the fore. But in my opinion, there is a vast basic difference. China works on Institutional basis while India as individual approaches.

China always gives different view from what it does. One side, they have accepted USA as a single power, on other when Chinese President is in India, gives different impression. Chinese President HU in a keynote address at Vigyan Bhawan, stressed on the need for a more equitable and fairer political and economic order.

More equitable and fairer both are ambiguous words for Chinese. Till the time they accept democracy, how can they talk and preach about fairer political order. Similarly equitable is again not justified. Chinese have opened the market. They are ready to unlearn their whole history to learn the modern life style of Americans, they preach others differently.

“We should promote multi-polarity in the world and democracy in international relations and work to make the economic order fairer,” said Mr Hu. Mr President must ensure democracy and freedom to Chinese. When President goes to USA and meets Bill Gates, talks about Windows and English, he must maintain the integrity with his talk and nation policies.

He emphasized that both China and India face “rare opportunities in a world moving towards multi-polarity and growing economic globalization.” China has accepted all the preconditions of USA to get nuclear deal through. While in the same situation, China’s President can not divert Indian attention and preach multi-polarity. It is not India business but let it be Chinese one if they wish to.

China must learn to differentiate between enemy and friend. China is committing the same mistake what USA committed to arm Muslims to combat Russia long back. Today, China can take a lesson or two from history before they unlearn their own historical events. Chinese President HU does the mistake to weigh Pakistan on the similar yardstick like India.

“China does not seek any selfish gains in South Asia and stands ready to play a constructive role in promoting peace and development in the subcontinent,” Hu said. The way China is learning English and unlearning Chinese, I do not find long when Chinese will speak English, chat English and unlearn Chinese. The sources of wisdom lies in English and Chinese understand this very well. In the pretext of Olympics, China is ensuring that many Chinese get used to English. Call centers, BPOs and other outsourcing jobs will ensure extinction of Chinese in few decades time.

When the Chinese visualize things they would like to learn from India, most notably in recent years in software, they are quick to send delegation after delegation to Nasscom’s doors to figure it out. China has Institutional support for this purpose. India has not even individual. All high level executives here are busy to save their chair or finish their tenure. India hardly reciprocates with any alacrity. This is the biggest loss to India and Indians.

Narayana Murthy of Infosys has felt the need of assimilation of Chinese for their growth. Infosys has trained around 200 Chinese last year and has planned to train many more in the days to come. Murthy may be moving with passions to win the order from Chinese establishments, but India as a nation is not the responsibility of anyone. Most of the people just like to take credit for the good things and runaway from negatives.

Indian Intelligentsia has prominently spread wrong fears. The evaluations have been not worth mentioning. Just few years back, there was so much writing about the fear of Chinese products. But what happened at last. All the markets in the country is flooded with Chinese products and even crackers and colours of Chinese make are coming to India, but Indian market is able to accommodate properly. Chinese are equally struggling to survive in the open and competitive market.

China works on Institutional basis, while Indian growth is mostly individual. If Nooyi becomes CEO, our dailies cover as big Indian achievements. If L N Mittal buy Arcelor, it is Indian victory. How far this individual growth or success be transferred to nation growth? Government must streamline its act. RA Mashelkar briefed Prime Minister about the abysmal state of scientific and research work in India. India is still busy with reservation and sealing. Indian intelligentsia is unable to come out of the vicious circle. Government rests with glory of past.

There is absolutely no point comparing Chinese growth with India. Chinese growth is voluminous. Recently, all the news papers are covering extensively about the Chinese growth. The data are available. Chinese are way ahead.

Chinese will falter only if something drastically wrong happens. There is a possibility of such occurrences in near future in the changed language and networking world. When Nepalese can turn down the governance, there is no reason in my mind, Chinese will not do it. China may face such problem anytime. But then these are Chinese problems and India has nothing to dream about.

There is no point even talking about Chinese growth. India has to deal firmly with its own problems. India has to set its own path. Opportunities are available and they have to be grabbed. India must work on Institutional basis. All the government babus should de-link glory with growth. They should get themselves away from glory to understand the path of growth. Posted by Picasa

Dutch Unlearning Burqua

Just few days back, when I wrote a blog on banning Burqua, many raised eyebrows on the issue whether it is feasible or not. In general, people accept the ideas and views which remain close to their perceptions. If anything talked new and fresh, they immediately go against that.

People are apprehensive to accept my views. But, they are doing at the cost of their growth. Today on Sunday, all Indian dailies have come out with the news of Dutch plan to ban burqua in public. The Asian Age writes this as a BIG STORY. The same is shown in the diagram. http://360.yahoo.com/kamekish

Netherlands planned to introduce legislation to ban burqua and similar garments in public places. It is said that full body garb worn by a small number of Muslim women in the Netherlands posed a grave security threat. There may be a time when Burqua must be providing security to vulnerable Muslim women in war torn society, but today, they have become a threat to existing peace loving nations and secured society.

Any clothing which hides the wearer’s face has a potential to be exploited by destructive and cunning people. Terrorist may use such garments to move beyond security checks to carry out an attack.

Jack Straw, Briton’s former foreign secretary, recently urged Muslim women to remove full facial veils when talking to him, saying the veil was “such a visible statement of separation and of difference” that it jeopardized British social harmony. Prime Minister Tony Blair subsequently backed Mr. Straw.

Indian government is struggling to improve the status of Muslim fraternity. After Sachar’s report, country is unable to find a solution for the upliftment of Muslims. Instead of thinking and discussing on reservation, which has kept even scheduled caste backward for last sixty years, they should open their ears for the happening around the world. The government can take a lesson from Dutch move. Government must ban veil not only from Muslim women faces but all other poor women from Haryana, Rajasthan or remote tribal lands so that Mallika’s mother should enjoy her daughter’s successes or Rakhi Sawant should not feel humiliated in front of her conservative mother.

Indian government should not fear of losing elections. Like West Bengal government, center may not be able to fool Muslim without their real development in 21st century. They will have to take some concrete steps for the growth of backward community including Muslims. As such in society, only few are left in burqua who are making all the female population vulnerable. Even the developed men can quote about veil to suppress their women counterpart.

About a million Muslims live in Netherlands; hardly 50-100 women regularly wear a Burqua. In India of Shabana Azmi, there may be only poor ladies who follow these trends of 16th century. There is no reason that we do not take some hard decisions. There is a need to unlearn Burqua for the homogenous growth of society.

Dutch is not alone in such steps of unlearning. France banned from its school the hijab, the head scarf worn by many Muslim girls and women, along with other conspicuous religious symbols.

Britain’s highest court ruled this year that a secondary school was within its right to bar a female student from wearing a jilbab, a loose, ankle-length gown, instead of a regular uniform.

Prime Minister Romano Prodi of Italy has also joined the debate. “You can not cover your face, you must be seen,” Mr Prodi said in October. “This is a common sense. I think. It is important for our society.”

Is Sonia Gandhi, Italy born UPA Chairperson of India, listening? Has she this simple common sense for common people? When Prime Minister of Italy can issue such wise statement and prepare to take some unlearning steps, why can not Sonia Gandhi and her government take some such steps to curb the menace in society. Even if Sonia may not be interested in making India Super Power, for normal growth, such steps need to be initiated.

Reservation for female may not serve that much purpose as unlearning veil and burqua will serve for the Indian society. Will government take some constructive steps or continue thinking in populist line?

Respecting the tradition of some religion or culture is one thing while keeping the community backward for generations even in 21st century is a crime. This crime is being committed by leaders and government of developing countries in this Information age. People sitting on network or even reading the news paper are aware about the recent rape case of 50 year old lady in Pakistan. One side, we keep them in burqua, other side we make them so vulnerable? People sitting on network will never excuse such ongoing brutalism on society.

Society will have to unlearn irrelevant traditions fast. The issues of unlearning which I am raising in my blogs continuously are essential for human survival. Growth comes next. The choice of burqua or unlearning is not an option; the choice is between life and death. Posted by Picasa

Burqua or Veil - Only For Poor Ladies

Is Burqua or Veil for poor ladies? This is the fact, I find so clear in my daily conscious living.

Are religious traditions for poor only?
Are the poor responsible to carry out the old and conservative systems to the next generations?
Why do not rich and privileged follow the old tradition as meticulously as poor follow them?
Why leaders do not preach to eradicate the menaces? Why do they remain satisfied in keeping poor poor?
When Government can ban Child labor, why can’t they ban veil of women?
When government can ban sati, why living female are kept in veil without any ban?
Veil or Burqua is keeping female ineffective. They are forced to live like slave of father, father-in-law, brothers, husband, sons and friends.

Today when world is moving fast to become developed, these questions have become too relevant. We can not take chance to keep poor deprived, conservative and uneducated. Even if we do, it will be at the cost of our development, peace and freedom. Poor or underprivileged will be kept so at the cost of development of society.

Till the time, any female is in veil, uneducated or deprived, we have plenty of chance to disrupt the peace of the world. All educated and privileged people are compelled to eradicate this discriminatory attitude from the society irrespective of religion to bring sustainable peace in this world.

Pakistan preach whole Muslims world to show sympathy about terror in Kashmir. They become happy when some terrorist outfits give fatwa against Burqua. They argue that Muslims female are supposed to be in Burqua. But why do not their rich and famous be in Burqua themselves? The picture shown by Indian dailies proves this point. http://www.360.yahoo.com .

Burqua is old and lived its life. Like we had apartheid, today we have serious problem almost equivalent as veil of female. The government must ban Burqua or veil in every nation. This will make the female productive. They will make family happy. The children will get educated and futuristic education. The society will get benefited. The developing nation will become developed. The people of developing nation will forget cursing or blaming rich people or rich nation for their miseries. The world will become a peaceful place.

Government or NGOs (non-government organizations) take any step to improve the ground situations of the deeply religious people of developing countries; they are not going to have any impact on the life of poor. We may carry out any amount of reservations for these poor in government or even in private sector jobs, the deprived people will not able to prosper. Some leadership may talk of pouring more money for these deprived sections, but that also will not help. It has not helped in past. It has not given result earlier.

The society need clear cut directions and banning of unnecessary traditions like we have done with Sati are required. That is the need of hour. The poor will continue suffering.

We need to take some harsh decisions to maintain the human rights in society. People will become more effective. The family, society and countries will be able to maintain a sustainable economy to carry forward prosperity.

It would be my privilege to accpet any relevant comments regarding the usefulness of this article. Thanks..... Posted by Picasa

Muslims - Dalits of 21st Century

When India got independence, two communities in general were in worse condition. They were scheduled castes and scheduled tribes. They were generally referred as Dalits of India. Gandhi for clear demarcation and continuance of caste system termed Dalits with a better name and called them Harijans. Today, Allah has become generous and Muslims are becoming Harijans.

After sixty years, Muslims in India have become Dalits of 21st century. What would be the fate of Muslims in other developing countries?

Muslims are worse off than Scheduled Castes when it comes to education. They trail behind Other Backward Classes (OBC) virtually across the board: education, employment, poverty and assets. Is Osama listening? Muslims are in bad shape. Their religious leaders and blind following habits are making them the Dalits of 21st century.

Thanks to Western world and especially Americans who are trying to educate Muslims in Afghanistan and Iraq at their cost. The whole Muslim world should be obliged to Americans who are helping to see the better and free tomorrow at the cost of their soldiers and their families.

Muslim leadership has failed Muslim community badly. They have kept them hardcore religious without growth. They now fear growth and freedom. That’s why, they keep their female under veil or Burqua. They do not allow modern education to their youth. They do not allow Internet access to people. They must awaken fast before they become the tribal of 21st century in the midst of developed world.

The findings from the data based on the 61st round of the NSSO survey and inputs from states have been recently published on Indian dailies. When even in India, condition has deteriorated so much, it can very well be understood what would be the fate in other parts of the world.

It is not new that such data has been made available regarding the pathetic condition of Muslims. Around 26 years ago, then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, seven members committee (headed by Dr Gopal Singh) carried out similar survey. The results and observations were similar. I have my own doubt that whether Government has any idea about the problems and its solutions. The community will continue suffering from the lack of policy decision of the parties sympathetic towards them.

In India, so called secular parties need to be blamed for the pathetic conditions of Muslims because in the name of secularism, the leaders have encouraged the community to continue in their regressive vein even after Independence. Muslims are little better off in Gujarat compared to any other state. The record in a state like West Bengal run continuously by Left for last three decades and even Uttar Pradesh or Bihar which for the past 15 years have had leaders claiming Messianic status, are pathetic. Hindus offensiveness may be a catalyst for Muslims growth.

Communist may have been able to give more space to dead Muslims in history book but they have been able to ruin the condition of present Muslim population. They have ensured that community becomes the Dalits of 21st century. They may not have ever thought of these situations when they talk about poor or common man. It is pathetic to talk about inclusions when we make policies and plan for exclusions. They have been able to exclude Muslims from growth and development. The time is not far, unless some internal measures are taken at administrative front; when the community will become tribals in their Burqua. Their religious leaders must unlearn part of Quran and get some better education of modern world to live a civilized life.

Secularism must bring Muslims in the main stream. London must ban Burqua. MNC must stop people to have beard. Muslims must be brought to the mainstream at the cost of hurting their religious sentiments. It is required not only for Muslims but for the peace of whole world. We have to bomb their old traditions mercilessly before their old conservatism bomb this world with their atom bomb.

Come forward and join hands to stop Muslims becoming Dalits of 21st century!!! Posted by Picasa

Unlearn Veil To Understand Development

Veil being used or forced to being used by women is a shame for a civilized society. It is a clear violation to basic human rights. It is a clear violation to keep half of the population as slaves. It is curse to human society. Veil, irrespective of religion, is the biggest impediment of growth. Veil will create riot not by anybody but those who are being veiled for centuries.
Mallika Sherawat, the famous Indian actress, rebelled from her family setup to work in movies. Her parents never agreed with her ideas. She broke relations with her parents to pursue her career in movies. In a press conference, she roared, ‘My dad comes from a very old-world setup where everything is very traditional. The attitude is still, “girls from good families shouldn’t go into films.” Their thinking will never change. My mother still wears a gunghat (veil). Veil is creating havoc to a civilized society.
I feel so lost at times.’ She is correct. Anybody will feel lost when she has to change her level all alone. She has to take her decisions in life all alone. Parents are worse than enemies in such cases who pursue the tradition of veil for any reason. Such conservative people cannot accept or understand and appreciate Mallika’s tremendous efforts. Mallika once confirmed, ‘My dad has not spoken to me for the last three years.’ There is no way out. The progress of the offspring of this generation has to pass through a dark tunnel without veil. A progressive society have to throw veil for growth. People have to unlearn veil.
Veil removal is directly related to sex. Sex is a very integral part of social evolution. An individual or society passes through the most difficult phases in handling sexual necessities. There are continuous up gradations, discussions and research going on to meet the demands of individuals. But the sexual needs remain behind the veil, concealed, disguised or obscured. Why draw a veil over humans?
Developing society is hardly mature enough to meet the requirements of individuals. There is so much hidden pressure and conservatives to acquire information. Marriage itself is not yet clearly understood and explored. The famous writer Shobha De when she launched her latest book from the ninth floor of the Taj Mahal Hotel in New Delhi, in her fantastic backless dress, it still attracted lot of shyness, glaze, media attention and discussion, but all under a veil. The removal of shyness could be the first step to explore the depths of sex. A simple step of removal of shyness or initiation of smartness has taken generations for a individual. The reason has been quite complex. The individual and society has to understand and conquer them first.

Munna Devi was a woman from a very small village. She hardly got any proper education. She was the sixth child of her parents. She was born to do service for society starting from her family. She used to cook food for the family of twelve. In villages and even in small towns, it is a common phenomenon. She is hardly aware of the time she started menstruation.
When she was fourteen, she was married off in a very remote village, where you reach after walking for about six kilometers. Her parents married her early because they got an educated bridegroom for their hardworking daughter. At the time of marriage, her husband was studying in class twelve in the city which was around forty kilometers from his village.
After marriage, there was the gauna, sending off from the parent’s place and as per tradition; she came to her husband’s village. She used to remain inside the kuccha house with her father-in-law, mother-in-law, nanad (husband’s sister). She, as a bahu, had no privilege to go outside the house in the daytime. Only during night time, she could go to field for her natural calls. She used to keep ghunghat, a veil to cover face, in front of the males of the village, including her father-in-law. Her husband used to come during vacations from college. They used to remain away from each other during the daytime and only at night, after everybody slept; they used to come close to each other. The same tradition of purdah, veil continued for a long time. She became the mother of six children.
Fortunately, the country was passing through independence and the concept of a liberal society. Because of the consciousness of her mother-in-law, her husband got a job as a draftsman in the public sector. They started living in a small town. After becoming the mother of six children, and spending fifteen years of her married life, she started talking to strangers who used to visit her house. She garnered this courage against her mother-in-law’s wishes who always used to volunteer to talk to any strangers. But after six children she also got the courage to come out. Whenever any visitor came to her house, her children used to open the door, she used to hide her face, inside the room and say, ‘Ha, Kya bat hai? Saheb tho duty par gaye hai.’ (What is the matter, Mister has gone on duty.)’. Even at that stage, she never got the courage to confront any adult person even her husband’s friends.
Time is the best medicine not only for the diseases or sorrows of the poor but it is a medicine for modernity too in a conservative society. Time changes things but very slowly. Time passed, her elder son Bhola crossed the age of twelve. He started seeing and understanding the world better. He was getting his education in the town school. He always applied his education to the improvement and modernization of self, family members and if possible society. He always believed modernity and prosperity are synonymous. He felt that there is no pleasure in prospering if you remain conservative in your lifestyle. He forced his illiterate mother to remove her veil on the arrival of visitors to the house. There was no pressure from the father-in-law because he was not staying with them. Things changed and the education of the small children of an illiterate mother brought about some improvements. After around twenty years of marriage, Munna Devi was able to talk to strangers without a veil. A significant change of civilization has occurred. This could be the few first steps towards modernity.
New research confirms a belief that society is the strongest and biggest ingredient in improving the life of human beings. They learn faster from their colleagues, neighbours and society than through any preaching or lectures. The change of place or society is thus the most important aspect of the growth of individual or family. Being at one place, you cannot learn better things or progressive things. Fortunately, Munna Devi was lucky. Her husband got transferred and moved to a better place in a better township. She could see a better society. Her husband could see the smarter people. Her children could see a better society. Her mother-in-law could see a different world.
At the new place, people were mixing more frequently and openly. Earlier she had seen the ladies in sarees only, but at the new place, she saw the ladies in salwar-sameez, kurta-payajama, a few even wore pants-shirt, jeans too. Her children were going to a good English-medium school. They were learning better things. Slowly she left her shyness, removed her veil, pallu, the end of saree from her head. She used to talk to strangers openly without the pallu on her head. It was a great individual change like a triumph. As per compulsive social needs, she started going to markets, she started going to clubs with the children to see movies, she escorted her children to school for tuitions and so on. Even though, she was illiterate, she started speaking a few English words like ‘one’, ‘two’, ‘apple’, ‘egg’, ‘book’, ‘thank you’, ‘Tata’, ‘bye-bye’, etc. She became educated. Her husband used to proudly say, ‘Mural’, lovingly he used to call her with this name, ‘has learned more English than many men in the village.’ He was correct. Changed society had compelled her to learn and improve.
Modernity has its own compulsions. Munna Devi also wanted to have some intimate friends. The concept of friend at the age of forty-five with six grown-up children in a developing world is worse than thinking of committing murder. But this is a need of human beings. It is a physical compulsion. The body needs something and gets fulfilled in its own way. A barber, Rajendra, used to come to their house to cut the hair of all the males of the house. He was very talkative. He was living single in the town. During the haircut, he used to keep talking to Munna. Slowly a relationship developed; Rajendra became a good friend of Munna. He used to visit almost every week and used to spend hours with Munna. This new development made Munna a very bold person. She started enjoying the closeness of her husband even in the presence of children and outsiders. After around twenty-five years of marriage, she realized the needs of her body and self. This kind of time, chance, environment and opportunities are required for conscious evolution of individuals in society in normal circumstances.
Growth has its own limitations and tragedies. When Munna’s educated son got married, she forgot all her misery, pain of progress and modernity, she started preaching to the highly educated bahu of a highly educated son to follow all those old traditions of ghunghat, veil, puja and respect for elders, etc. which she used to do when she was fourteen years old, newlywed and staying in the remote village with illiterate people around her. The old shyness and painful customs, which she forgot or rather, got rid off after a lot of coercing and forcing, she was forcing on her bahu.
With lot of difficulties and the wise tricks of her educated son, she herself learned a part of modernity in her lifetime with so much pain but when as a mother-in-law, she had to handle and teach her bahu, she went back to thirty years of life and forced things to be done in the same way as she did thirty years ago in that remote village. This is the biggest irony in the normal growth of human civilization. Progress, development and achievements takes their own toll but once achieved instead of forgetting the painful past and dreadful path, people are compelled to rewind old experiences. Can we not unlearn them? Is it such a big challenge? It all starts from simple veil. Can we unlearn veil to achieve desired growth?

Cursing the developed society will never make the conservative people of developing society to grow. Women have to throw their veils irrespective of their religion. Women have to burn their veil permanently for their development. Women have to unlearn veil for their basic freedom and privileges. There is no growth of any society whose female are in veil. There is no progress of a family whose female are forced to be in veil. Veil is the china wall between deprivation and luxury. Veil must be deleted from a dictionary of a progressive person.
Veil and conservatives continue because of social history. Life remains secretive in nature. Fearfulness of uncontrollability always threatens the spread of knowledge and wisdom. Every human remains quite overconfident of his/her control and prowess. But, who takes chance for others, that too for next generation? Unlearning even painful customs and traditions remains a big challenge to people of a developing nation especially when moving towards a developed society or develop nation.
People have remained poor and deprived even in developed societies whose female are in veil. The children are still dying as human bomb whose mothers are forced to be in veil. The brothers are becoming terror whose sisters are forced to be in veil. The daughters are becoming the followers of Osama to become human bomb if they are convinced to be in veil. Veil is the biggest enemy to freedom. For recent new coverage please go to http://360.yahoo.com/kamekish.
The history of appeasements is costing the people across the world dear. Who can forget the appeasement policy of Rajiv Gandhi in case of Shah Bano and now Imrana? Society is paying for all these fallacies of leadership. The growth is remaining illusive. Veil is keeping knowledge and wisdom away from people.
Frankness, openness, understanding of life, living like an independent and free soul, having the freedom to live like a human being, especially for ladies, comes with a lot of sacrifice, training, opportunity and boldness. A women or even men need to be courageous enough to reduce the conservativeness, forget about eliminating them.
Munna passed through so much pain, sacrifice and personal courage to come out of the conservative traditions of the veil where she was living like a ‘cow’ during the last thirty years. She was tied and milked as per the owner’s wishes. But the irony of the growth of human generation is that they are not passing this freedom and progressive thinking to the next generation. On the contrary, they want to take the people of the next generation back by thirty years. This is a tragedy of human civilization. Is there a surprise when veil in Muslims in India have pushed the whole community to the level worse that the scheduled caste. Veil will take the people back to Stone Age.
In a society, veil and such conservatism passes from one generation to next forcefully because the person feels comfortable to deal with that conservatism experienced of early stages of life. They are just not bothered even about the growth of their own offspring. In these conservative and selfish environments, sex has remained the most unknown, hidden and complex subject. Everybody feels that he knows enough about sex and there is no need of any education, training or experience. This results in the situation that we remain illusive about the biggest and most pleasurable aspect of life. Sex and growth are interlinked with the tradition of veil. We need to unlearn veil to have fun. We need to unlearn veil to have pleasurable sex. We need to unlearn veil to learn about growth and prosperity.
The growth is a very slow process. The economical, social and technological growth has impinged new hope to all deprived people including the women in veil. As the changes in last decades have surpassed the changes in last centuries, there is a tremendous hope that people will discuss and sort out those changes which provide a better living to people. Jack Straw has made the beginning by raising the issues. The present generation leadership has come out openly to make the change. The same leaderships who kept all illiterate and semidetached behind the veil for all these years for human history are forced to talk to come out of veil.
The young boys and girls are not going to follow the conservative traditions. Statistics show the changes in the mindset. The numbers of people trusting their parent in last 20 years has declined from 23% to 21% while those trusting a sibling from 21% to 14%. These declines in the existing trust between two generations are the good sign of growth. I conclude that growth is compulsive and changes have to be accepted by the people forcefully or by choice. Ideas Which Matter

I am quite happy and satisfied to announce that I have written about the issues which have come on the center stage of developing country like India. The day before yesterday when I uploaded my article, titled ‘Dangerous Optimism: A Crackerjack’ on my blog, BBC started showing ‘Tata’s acquisition as major event of India’ in its international news. The other issues raised followed.

Today is Saturday. I am happy to see that editorials of Indian Express and The Times of India have written what I wrote in my article. TOI editorial writes, ‘Om and the world, Diwali as a global festival’. Diwali is celebrated with fanfare in all corners of the world – from Natal to New York, from Singapore to Surinam. Diwali has something to do with the nature of the festival which resonates across cultures and geography. The issue has been clearly and firmly dealt in just one paragraph of my blog.

On the other hand, IE writes, ‘India of ideas and the ideas of India, Celebrate the fact that complicated new questions are being asked’. If you feel increasingly optimistic about India, you should also be looking at various questions. Editors write few questions which are as irrelevant as Intelligentsia of Indian society appears today. I feel that I have asked more relevant and burning questions which need to be asked at this time. I have asked those complicated new questions. You must read my post to know those questions. However, as I finally say that this is the time of celebrations and we should be alert and conscious about it.

To read my blogs with attached picture: http://360.yahoo.com/kamekish

I am feeling excited about the issues which I raised. I have not received many comments about my writings but with my understanding of the happenings around the world, I am sure that any body who reads by blog is fortunate to get the first hand information about the real issues India and the world are facing today. I write world class issues.

Further, when I raise world class issues, I also enjoy developing some theory and principle. These new developments need to become the integral part of our life. For the benefit of all, I have devised five steps to achieve excellence. I have published these steps in the form of an article. When I was writing this article for management blogsite, one very brilliant idea came to my mind. I would like to repeat that for the benefit of you all.

The other inventions of last few centuries have given the luxuries to every
individual while the recent technological inventions have given wisdom at the
hand of every child born on this earth in 21st century. The time is not far when
excellence will be the common phenomena of a rising society.

They are available at management blogsite. You can view, read and if feel excited then can comment there. There are many valuable management articles. You can enjoy them at your will.

http://www.managementlogs.com/human_capital.html

The five steps to achieve excellence are as follows:

1. Unlearning conservative ideas towards innovation

2. Selecting sources of wisdom

3. Ensuring encouraging environment (EEE)

4. Excellence is a necessity

5. Excellence is achievable

These steps have been elaborated in the above given blog. As I believe that excellence can be achieved by any one at any time, I am sure you all can take benefit from these steps. The time is not far when excellence will be the common phenomena of a rising society.

Kiran As Today's Godfather

India again felt proud of a brain drain. Kiran Desai an Indian born author, settled in England won Man Bookers Prize. She has hardly experienced the hardships of a developing country. She had been living in developed country. She had all the privilege and facilities of a developed nation. She had environment of a developed nation. She is fortunate to have all those privileges, even though she tells about her hardships. Is her feelings or Booker’s award justify brain drain? Alas some more brain drains should have taken place few decades back. But, when we can not do anything about it, why to talk about past? Can we make use of present situation for our future growth?

Resident Indians have to take few lessons here and there. The excellence creation is almost impossible in developing countries at this juncture. That is why the country is devoid of individuals who excels. The situation in the first decade of 21st century had been difficult in India. However, the way situation is changing; at least I find some hope that in next few years some improvements should take place. People in general will become more responsible to give due respect for excellence. Individual will be able to excel. World class creativity will emerge from new respectful and understanding environment.

As Kiran has won Bookers Prize, few factual incidences about her life of last few years are being written. News papers and magazines are writing about her. Now she has achieved international fame, but it would be interesting to know those old stories. I hope few lessons from these stories of non-resident Indians will help all conscious resident people. These writings at times work like a godfather. You will have to feel it to find it out. I shall just put those points one by one.

“I think more Indians should write,” she says.

The famous female editor from The New Yorker magazine was in no doubt about the quality of Kiran Desai’s new novel. “This is,” she told the apprehensive author, “the worst book I have ever read in my life. It is perverse, horrible and awful, and there is no way to rescue it.”

John Sutherland, chairman of last year’s Booker panel, noted that the book needed “a good going-over by a good editor”.

Her first book took four years to write and she labored for eight years on the latest. Emerging as a virtual unknown from her long self imposed isolation was painful.

The book had become a “monster”, growing out of control. “I wrote 1,500 pages and cut it down to 300. When I finished, it wasn’t greeted with great love, especially in England. No one wanted it. No one cared.” Kiran told after winning the coveted Man Booker Prize of ₤50,000.

Her book had sold only 2,396 copies when it entered the award’s long list, rising to 500 copies a week when she was short listed. It can now expect the 15-fold sales bounce of a Man Booker winner.

Transformed from obscurity to international fame is an instant.

Her grandfather was a judge who studied at Cambridge, just like her leading fictional character, although the latter was consumed by self-hatred of his Indian-ness.

She was shocked by the differences between India and the rest of the world. Although she says she still feels foreign in America, she is clearly a product of it.

As a penniless writer in Brooklyn, she shared a small apartment with a former clown, a fashion designer and a waitress. Their noise drove her to distraction and into the kitchen, where she wrote and nibbled biscuits. Eight years passed.

“I was living in a completely different time frame, completely isolated. I wouldn’t answer the phone in all those years. I was scared of it.” Publishers had forgotten her and moved on.

But one day last month the phone rang and an instinct made her pick it up. It was her publisher. Twenty calls followed in quick succession. The dizzy whirling of recognition had begun.

Indians on the path towards developed nation will have to pass through significant changes. The excellence will emerge from a better environment. There is a need to have urgent behavioral changes towards competitions and excellence. I have personally faced the situations since last more than one year which forces me to rethink what keeps on moving? What really motivates you? What keeps your balance intact? Kiran story may be today’s solution? Is it not a good godfather for the people like me for achieving those desired excellence? I shall explain how and why?

It would be interesting to study the responses I got from one of my highest educated relative. He is post graduate in Engineering from McGill University Canada. He communicated his anger on my work as follows.

I happen to read some of the portion of the book. Some of my initial thoughts.

1. Now a days anyone can become a write, simply its needs dedication, passion and hardwork. You have proved it.
2. As I said earlier, why you did not research the topic earlier, and may be would have got Master or Ph.D. for this. This would have given you more credibility to write even non-sense and people would have beleived you more. However, in absense of that, why you didn't got it forwarded by well known author.
3. I was not sure you wanted to write biography or wanted to give live and real example in making your point. However, you missed some points which is known to everybody.
4. Till now I got a mixed feelings. Some time I became happy that you took courage to write something, sometime angry as why you discribe so much of your personal details.
5. I don't know how much comfortable are you about yours detail, but certainly I am not comfortable with mine. At least make sure you take out my name out. I could easily ban the book being published at at least being circulated in US easily as it deals personal detals which most likely matches personal life without prior consent.
6. The book needs to be halved to be more focussed, concise and relevant. Otherwise its non-sense and random frustration of life.

Hope you get somethngs. Keep in mind we don't have much time to serf internet and blogging for nothing. Who will pay for this. However, you are lucky. Umesh

Recently, Umesh Prasad came to India and stayed with me. He is in US for last ten years. The quality of living style of his family forced me and my wife to cry. They are living a pathetic life even in US. I pray God, he could have had time to read my book. It would have helped them to live a better life. His wife is a post graduate. She is a home maker. She has free time to read. But she is not doing this. In spite, the whole family live a confused, disorganised and discontented life. The fate of children remain at risk in the confused environment. Hope, they remain free to do something better in life. I am pained because I have written one of the best book. I have my earnest desire that people read them and at least make their life better and prosperous

Dear Mr. Verma

I am terribly terribly sorry for the delay in replying to your query about the manuscript. I was travelling and then had to rest at home since I was quite unwell. I have come to office just today.

About the manuscript, I regret that this is not the kind of work that Viveka Foundation publishes. Our work is altogether of a different nature. However, I'm sure you will find another publisher whose work corresponds more closely to what you do.

I hope you undersatnd.

Dear Mr Verma:

Thanks for your mail and details of your proposed book.

We have had a chance to look at it and feel that we may not be the most appropriate publishers for you. We are primarily publishers of academic social science and given this, we may not be able to take your project on.

Thank you for considering OUP India and I wish you the best in finding a suitable publisher.

with best wishes,

Dear Kamendra Verma

I have gone through the synopsis. The theme is good and so is your handling and presentation.I feel your book is more meaningful to younger generation than the older people and meant more for international audience than Indian. Publishing a book (by yourself)as I said earlier is easy but marketing is difficult, so you ahve to look for a publisher. For that you have to try really hard. So, make a beginning and best of luck DP sabharwal

From "Gurcharan Das" Fri, 5 May 2006

Dear Shri Kamendra Verma,

Unfortunately, Mr Das is away for the next 3 months. He is hard at work on his next book as he has a deadline to meet. He hopes that you will understand if he cannot help you and not able to write to you personally.

There are many people who have not responded. The list is long and it may not be justified to list them here. All these occurrences depict one thing and that is the tremendous hardships in the path of innovation. It becomes difficult to maintain a balance between confidence and ego. The direction appears vague. The destination remains vague. All these are the challenges to leave the level to reach to a distant level. Any growing person can relate these situations for their own satisfaction and direction. The story of Kiran gives some hope and direction. Wisdom flows from unexpected sources. We need to be conscious and aware. Posted by Picasa
