China India Story - Institution Vs Individuals

China and India are two distinct lands. Because of the border proximity, it is always felt comfortable of comparison. The economists have already given the impetus to dig into these contradictions. The visit of Chinese President has brought this comparisons and discussion to the fore. But in my opinion, there is a vast basic difference. China works on Institutional basis while India as individual approaches.

China always gives different view from what it does. One side, they have accepted USA as a single power, on other when Chinese President is in India, gives different impression. Chinese President HU in a keynote address at Vigyan Bhawan, stressed on the need for a more equitable and fairer political and economic order.

More equitable and fairer both are ambiguous words for Chinese. Till the time they accept democracy, how can they talk and preach about fairer political order. Similarly equitable is again not justified. Chinese have opened the market. They are ready to unlearn their whole history to learn the modern life style of Americans, they preach others differently.

“We should promote multi-polarity in the world and democracy in international relations and work to make the economic order fairer,” said Mr Hu. Mr President must ensure democracy and freedom to Chinese. When President goes to USA and meets Bill Gates, talks about Windows and English, he must maintain the integrity with his talk and nation policies.

He emphasized that both China and India face “rare opportunities in a world moving towards multi-polarity and growing economic globalization.” China has accepted all the preconditions of USA to get nuclear deal through. While in the same situation, China’s President can not divert Indian attention and preach multi-polarity. It is not India business but let it be Chinese one if they wish to.

China must learn to differentiate between enemy and friend. China is committing the same mistake what USA committed to arm Muslims to combat Russia long back. Today, China can take a lesson or two from history before they unlearn their own historical events. Chinese President HU does the mistake to weigh Pakistan on the similar yardstick like India.

“China does not seek any selfish gains in South Asia and stands ready to play a constructive role in promoting peace and development in the subcontinent,” Hu said. The way China is learning English and unlearning Chinese, I do not find long when Chinese will speak English, chat English and unlearn Chinese. The sources of wisdom lies in English and Chinese understand this very well. In the pretext of Olympics, China is ensuring that many Chinese get used to English. Call centers, BPOs and other outsourcing jobs will ensure extinction of Chinese in few decades time.

When the Chinese visualize things they would like to learn from India, most notably in recent years in software, they are quick to send delegation after delegation to Nasscom’s doors to figure it out. China has Institutional support for this purpose. India has not even individual. All high level executives here are busy to save their chair or finish their tenure. India hardly reciprocates with any alacrity. This is the biggest loss to India and Indians.

Narayana Murthy of Infosys has felt the need of assimilation of Chinese for their growth. Infosys has trained around 200 Chinese last year and has planned to train many more in the days to come. Murthy may be moving with passions to win the order from Chinese establishments, but India as a nation is not the responsibility of anyone. Most of the people just like to take credit for the good things and runaway from negatives.

Indian Intelligentsia has prominently spread wrong fears. The evaluations have been not worth mentioning. Just few years back, there was so much writing about the fear of Chinese products. But what happened at last. All the markets in the country is flooded with Chinese products and even crackers and colours of Chinese make are coming to India, but Indian market is able to accommodate properly. Chinese are equally struggling to survive in the open and competitive market.

China works on Institutional basis, while Indian growth is mostly individual. If Nooyi becomes CEO, our dailies cover as big Indian achievements. If L N Mittal buy Arcelor, it is Indian victory. How far this individual growth or success be transferred to nation growth? Government must streamline its act. RA Mashelkar briefed Prime Minister about the abysmal state of scientific and research work in India. India is still busy with reservation and sealing. Indian intelligentsia is unable to come out of the vicious circle. Government rests with glory of past.

There is absolutely no point comparing Chinese growth with India. Chinese growth is voluminous. Recently, all the news papers are covering extensively about the Chinese growth. The data are available. Chinese are way ahead.

Chinese will falter only if something drastically wrong happens. There is a possibility of such occurrences in near future in the changed language and networking world. When Nepalese can turn down the governance, there is no reason in my mind, Chinese will not do it. China may face such problem anytime. But then these are Chinese problems and India has nothing to dream about.

There is no point even talking about Chinese growth. India has to deal firmly with its own problems. India has to set its own path. Opportunities are available and they have to be grabbed. India must work on Institutional basis. All the government babus should de-link glory with growth. They should get themselves away from glory to understand the path of growth. Posted by Picasa

Dutch Unlearning Burqua

Just few days back, when I wrote a blog on banning Burqua, many raised eyebrows on the issue whether it is feasible or not. In general, people accept the ideas and views which remain close to their perceptions. If anything talked new and fresh, they immediately go against that.

People are apprehensive to accept my views. But, they are doing at the cost of their growth. Today on Sunday, all Indian dailies have come out with the news of Dutch plan to ban burqua in public. The Asian Age writes this as a BIG STORY. The same is shown in the diagram. http://360.yahoo.com/kamekish

Netherlands planned to introduce legislation to ban burqua and similar garments in public places. It is said that full body garb worn by a small number of Muslim women in the Netherlands posed a grave security threat. There may be a time when Burqua must be providing security to vulnerable Muslim women in war torn society, but today, they have become a threat to existing peace loving nations and secured society.

Any clothing which hides the wearer’s face has a potential to be exploited by destructive and cunning people. Terrorist may use such garments to move beyond security checks to carry out an attack.

Jack Straw, Briton’s former foreign secretary, recently urged Muslim women to remove full facial veils when talking to him, saying the veil was “such a visible statement of separation and of difference” that it jeopardized British social harmony. Prime Minister Tony Blair subsequently backed Mr. Straw.

Indian government is struggling to improve the status of Muslim fraternity. After Sachar’s report, country is unable to find a solution for the upliftment of Muslims. Instead of thinking and discussing on reservation, which has kept even scheduled caste backward for last sixty years, they should open their ears for the happening around the world. The government can take a lesson from Dutch move. Government must ban veil not only from Muslim women faces but all other poor women from Haryana, Rajasthan or remote tribal lands so that Mallika’s mother should enjoy her daughter’s successes or Rakhi Sawant should not feel humiliated in front of her conservative mother.

Indian government should not fear of losing elections. Like West Bengal government, center may not be able to fool Muslim without their real development in 21st century. They will have to take some concrete steps for the growth of backward community including Muslims. As such in society, only few are left in burqua who are making all the female population vulnerable. Even the developed men can quote about veil to suppress their women counterpart.

About a million Muslims live in Netherlands; hardly 50-100 women regularly wear a Burqua. In India of Shabana Azmi, there may be only poor ladies who follow these trends of 16th century. There is no reason that we do not take some hard decisions. There is a need to unlearn Burqua for the homogenous growth of society.

Dutch is not alone in such steps of unlearning. France banned from its school the hijab, the head scarf worn by many Muslim girls and women, along with other conspicuous religious symbols.

Britain’s highest court ruled this year that a secondary school was within its right to bar a female student from wearing a jilbab, a loose, ankle-length gown, instead of a regular uniform.

Prime Minister Romano Prodi of Italy has also joined the debate. “You can not cover your face, you must be seen,” Mr Prodi said in October. “This is a common sense. I think. It is important for our society.”

Is Sonia Gandhi, Italy born UPA Chairperson of India, listening? Has she this simple common sense for common people? When Prime Minister of Italy can issue such wise statement and prepare to take some unlearning steps, why can not Sonia Gandhi and her government take some such steps to curb the menace in society. Even if Sonia may not be interested in making India Super Power, for normal growth, such steps need to be initiated.

Reservation for female may not serve that much purpose as unlearning veil and burqua will serve for the Indian society. Will government take some constructive steps or continue thinking in populist line?

Respecting the tradition of some religion or culture is one thing while keeping the community backward for generations even in 21st century is a crime. This crime is being committed by leaders and government of developing countries in this Information age. People sitting on network or even reading the news paper are aware about the recent rape case of 50 year old lady in Pakistan. One side, we keep them in burqua, other side we make them so vulnerable? People sitting on network will never excuse such ongoing brutalism on society.

Society will have to unlearn irrelevant traditions fast. The issues of unlearning which I am raising in my blogs continuously are essential for human survival. Growth comes next. The choice of burqua or unlearning is not an option; the choice is between life and death. Posted by Picasa

Burqua or Veil - Only For Poor Ladies

Is Burqua or Veil for poor ladies? This is the fact, I find so clear in my daily conscious living.

Are religious traditions for poor only?
Are the poor responsible to carry out the old and conservative systems to the next generations?
Why do not rich and privileged follow the old tradition as meticulously as poor follow them?
Why leaders do not preach to eradicate the menaces? Why do they remain satisfied in keeping poor poor?
When Government can ban Child labor, why can’t they ban veil of women?
When government can ban sati, why living female are kept in veil without any ban?
Veil or Burqua is keeping female ineffective. They are forced to live like slave of father, father-in-law, brothers, husband, sons and friends.

Today when world is moving fast to become developed, these questions have become too relevant. We can not take chance to keep poor deprived, conservative and uneducated. Even if we do, it will be at the cost of our development, peace and freedom. Poor or underprivileged will be kept so at the cost of development of society.

Till the time, any female is in veil, uneducated or deprived, we have plenty of chance to disrupt the peace of the world. All educated and privileged people are compelled to eradicate this discriminatory attitude from the society irrespective of religion to bring sustainable peace in this world.

Pakistan preach whole Muslims world to show sympathy about terror in Kashmir. They become happy when some terrorist outfits give fatwa against Burqua. They argue that Muslims female are supposed to be in Burqua. But why do not their rich and famous be in Burqua themselves? The picture shown by Indian dailies proves this point. http://www.360.yahoo.com .

Burqua is old and lived its life. Like we had apartheid, today we have serious problem almost equivalent as veil of female. The government must ban Burqua or veil in every nation. This will make the female productive. They will make family happy. The children will get educated and futuristic education. The society will get benefited. The developing nation will become developed. The people of developing nation will forget cursing or blaming rich people or rich nation for their miseries. The world will become a peaceful place.

Government or NGOs (non-government organizations) take any step to improve the ground situations of the deeply religious people of developing countries; they are not going to have any impact on the life of poor. We may carry out any amount of reservations for these poor in government or even in private sector jobs, the deprived people will not able to prosper. Some leadership may talk of pouring more money for these deprived sections, but that also will not help. It has not helped in past. It has not given result earlier.

The society need clear cut directions and banning of unnecessary traditions like we have done with Sati are required. That is the need of hour. The poor will continue suffering.

We need to take some harsh decisions to maintain the human rights in society. People will become more effective. The family, society and countries will be able to maintain a sustainable economy to carry forward prosperity.

It would be my privilege to accpet any relevant comments regarding the usefulness of this article. Thanks..... Posted by Picasa

Muslims - Dalits of 21st Century

When India got independence, two communities in general were in worse condition. They were scheduled castes and scheduled tribes. They were generally referred as Dalits of India. Gandhi for clear demarcation and continuance of caste system termed Dalits with a better name and called them Harijans. Today, Allah has become generous and Muslims are becoming Harijans.

After sixty years, Muslims in India have become Dalits of 21st century. What would be the fate of Muslims in other developing countries?

Muslims are worse off than Scheduled Castes when it comes to education. They trail behind Other Backward Classes (OBC) virtually across the board: education, employment, poverty and assets. Is Osama listening? Muslims are in bad shape. Their religious leaders and blind following habits are making them the Dalits of 21st century.

Thanks to Western world and especially Americans who are trying to educate Muslims in Afghanistan and Iraq at their cost. The whole Muslim world should be obliged to Americans who are helping to see the better and free tomorrow at the cost of their soldiers and their families.

Muslim leadership has failed Muslim community badly. They have kept them hardcore religious without growth. They now fear growth and freedom. That’s why, they keep their female under veil or Burqua. They do not allow modern education to their youth. They do not allow Internet access to people. They must awaken fast before they become the tribal of 21st century in the midst of developed world.

The findings from the data based on the 61st round of the NSSO survey and inputs from states have been recently published on Indian dailies. When even in India, condition has deteriorated so much, it can very well be understood what would be the fate in other parts of the world.

It is not new that such data has been made available regarding the pathetic condition of Muslims. Around 26 years ago, then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, seven members committee (headed by Dr Gopal Singh) carried out similar survey. The results and observations were similar. I have my own doubt that whether Government has any idea about the problems and its solutions. The community will continue suffering from the lack of policy decision of the parties sympathetic towards them.

In India, so called secular parties need to be blamed for the pathetic conditions of Muslims because in the name of secularism, the leaders have encouraged the community to continue in their regressive vein even after Independence. Muslims are little better off in Gujarat compared to any other state. The record in a state like West Bengal run continuously by Left for last three decades and even Uttar Pradesh or Bihar which for the past 15 years have had leaders claiming Messianic status, are pathetic. Hindus offensiveness may be a catalyst for Muslims growth.

Communist may have been able to give more space to dead Muslims in history book but they have been able to ruin the condition of present Muslim population. They have ensured that community becomes the Dalits of 21st century. They may not have ever thought of these situations when they talk about poor or common man. It is pathetic to talk about inclusions when we make policies and plan for exclusions. They have been able to exclude Muslims from growth and development. The time is not far, unless some internal measures are taken at administrative front; when the community will become tribals in their Burqua. Their religious leaders must unlearn part of Quran and get some better education of modern world to live a civilized life.

Secularism must bring Muslims in the main stream. London must ban Burqua. MNC must stop people to have beard. Muslims must be brought to the mainstream at the cost of hurting their religious sentiments. It is required not only for Muslims but for the peace of whole world. We have to bomb their old traditions mercilessly before their old conservatism bomb this world with their atom bomb.

Come forward and join hands to stop Muslims becoming Dalits of 21st century!!! Posted by Picasa
