Minority Dose for Majority

I might have done correct thing that for the last few years, I did not rely for information and wisdom on newspapers, magazines or written articles completely. I sensed the flaws in the system long back before it started creating injury to my being. Today, newspaper itself gives heading like, ‘Newspapers can be injurious to health’. And it is not only true, it is much more dangerous than even anticipated by normal human beings. It is more dangerous than talked in media or news papers.

Newspapers can be critical to your growth. One side when it supplements to your wisdom domain, on other side, it can be fatal. Newspapers have been successful in ruining not only the characters about which it writes wrongly and systematically but it is working as poison for the normal individuals. That may be the reason, even Mukesh Ambani said just few days back in one of the interview to the news paper that he did not read news paper for one month when the problem with his brother was at peak. Can a normal person rely on the news of the newspaper? I say – big Noooo….

Some of the biggest flaws in the newspaper are the quality and authenticity of news articles, the seriousness of the issues raised in it and subsequent follow-ups to build the cases. Especially, the front page of the newspaper consists of old conservative and irrelevant theme in its headings. Long back I was advised by some senior to read the front page news and editorials. Today, when I refer the front page headings and editorials, I feel ashamed in considering them worth spending my time. This is true most of the days. The issues are ridiculous, irrelevant and not justified. Most of the time, I feel disgruntled not for my sake but for the majority of the people of this country. The majority gets the minority dose. Problem is unique. Today we have means to prove its vagueness. I have summarized this problem as ‘minority dose for majority’. Why do not we get experts view on http://www.danielpipes.org/article/4025 .

The newspaper articles, even the television media headings are full of the issues, which have already lived its life. When Juswant Singh writes a book, ‘A Call to Honour’, it is a simple process of evaluation and critic, but it turns out to be big daily news about the irrelevant mole, which can easily be forgotten if Mumbai blast takes place. Prince, the boy of Haryana takes the front page news while it is not even supposed to be covered for single day forget about so many days. TV news covers Prince live for full day, and next day, news papers discuss about the advertisement prospects of Prince. Musharaff writes a book, ‘Line of Fire’, which may have some or other irrelevant information, but Indian news papers never fail to cover in the front page. Why only news paper, the entire Indian media covers these left and right. Why should we cover things which are not at all relevant, nor authentic?

‘Iraq war spawned terrorism, radicals’, said US Intelligence report. What is so great in it? Why Indian newspapers should be filled with such analysis? Terrorists strike America in its heart on 9/11 and kill more than 3000 people. The attack destroyed capital worth $40 billion. It does not end there. It generates confidence in all radical thinking youngsters to undertake terrorism as a progressive profession. Muslims young must be motivated enough sufficiently to undertake terrorism at any level. People witnessed successes of few such emerging radicals in terrorism during last few years. Even today Muslims leadership talks about moderate views without curbing the basics and root of terrorism.
Starting from Musharaff to Osama, they talk tough. The majority Muslims have no choice. They are forced to pray, protest and procreate. Unless people are directed towards real progressive life with hope and success, there is always a threat that young people from Muslim community will opt for terrorism. The war on Afghanistan and Iraq has given advantages to the West while it also give fear factor in normal Muslims to keep themselves away from terrorism. The fast communication medium may be giving an illusive report regarding enhancement of radicals, but in long run, the ongoing war of America is going to bring peace and prosperity to not only to developed people but also to the deprived and poor people of developing world. Which Muslim does not want bread and butter? Who wants to die? Why to concentrate on minority views when majority is going to be benefited?

The dose of minority for majority is not a new concept. In IIC-IDSA Eminent Person’s Lecture series on 3rd Oct 2006, Dr Arun Shourie rightly said that 89.8% elected representatives are by minority in current parliament in India. They have less than 10% casts of votes. Today, the situation is like that independent candidate can win election based on minority votes and dream to become Chief Ministers or Prime Minister. The leader wins election on minority votes and makes policies for majority without having any concern for majority. The reasons are obvious. They are assured to win even next election on minority votes. The flaw of democracy is intelligently exploited by few cunning and sadistic leaders. How long majority will get minority dose?

Even for the sake of leadership, there is a time of retrospection. I am not surprised when News paper writes, ‘the selection of news, especially front page news, is largely determined by the old journalistic axioms: Bad news sell better than good news’. Who pursues these old journalistic axioms? Certainly, they are followed by the old guard and owner of the news paper houses. They must correct themselves in the modern time. The bosses who command the front page headings must take remedial action otherwise they are going to be as irrelevant as their headings are becoming today. Now, the era of mass communication is ending. The emerging time is the era of mass generation and mass accessibility.

I have always conveyed to rely on data. But unfortunately the traditional intellectuals, who hardly have complete knowledge about the accessibility and authenticity, pursue the old and irrelevant concepts. These old concepts hardly take cognigence of available data. When 80% people say, Gandhigiri is irrelevant in today world, congress management is going ahead in all direction to spread Gandhigiri to achieve their own selfish goals. Munnabhai has been made famous. Shabana Azmai has been conferred Gandhi peace award. Manmohan Singh has been sent to Africa to propagate Gandhism. Rs 50 crores have been sanctioned to rebuilt the road of Dandi march. Anupam Kher has been awarded to work on issues like Gandhi. Gandhi will not help Congress to come out of its old and traditional ways to achieve political mileage.

Is it surprising when Finance Minister P Chidambram reacted on first quarter growth of 8.9%? He said, ‘Some numbers don’t lie. Some myths don’t die’. Can the old myth to attract followers by keeping them poor and deprived work any longer? I personally feel, it is not possible now. You have to opt for progressive data than conservative myths. Majority is aware about their rights than anytime ever in the human history. Majority wants the dose for majority. Minority dose will not work.

One of the major myths is the Hindu rate of growth (HRG). Who has spread and used this word HRG? Who is responsible if Tata could not build Indica in 60s or 70s or 80s? Is it any Hindu? Who did not allow any Ambanis or Narayan Murthies to be created in 60s,70s or 80s? The earlier growth was not HRG but it may be NRG and GRG. As Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission of India Dr Montek Singh Ahluwalia tells to the crowd in almost every speech, those growths were Nehru and subsequently Gandhi rate of growth. Based on that growth, poverty alleviation was promised which remained as dream. The country has experienced another NRG and that is Narshimha rate of growth or we may call it MRG i.e. Manmohan rate of Growth. Even today, who are becoming hurdles in achieving more than 10% GDP growth which is expected to remove poverty from this land? Any thing good happens to this land is hardly credited to majority. Anything bad happens, never goes beyond majority. Majority is suffering at the hand of majority at the cost of majority as well as minority. Majority may not accept this for long especially when the culture of majority has shown the world direction and hope for the future. The tradition of majority of this land has given the concept of globalization through Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam. Let us be little rational in calling today’s progressive growth as IRG (Indian rate of Growth).

India is a peculiar land. It is not surprising when 90% of the people feel to be reborn in this magnificent country. This is a country where 85% Hindus reside. This is a country where largest number of Muslims lives. The kind of freedom people get in the disgruntled system is the sign of emerging future. The majority is becoming aware and powerful. They have a sense of their growth. They have not only read freedom. They have not only witnessed freedom. Fortunately, starting from religious to regional and language compulsions, people of India have experienced freedom in every walk of life. The few disgruntled Intelligentsia who try to command the authority of the deprived people will no longer be able to fool people for longer time. People want their share of freedom, priviledge, prosperity, success and achievements. Is it surprising that Indian entrepreneurs are making headways in the growth of Asia? Majority are awakening. They are conscious. Majority wants their share of power. Majority wants their prosperity. Majority wants majority doses to build their future. Majority dose is needed for majority.

The situation is complex. The educated class of networked people feels the difference. I come across various news and views daily through different sites on Internet. I am fortunate to have access to many of the best newsletters on Internet on various fields of human concerns. I am happy to have virtual world of my own with different human needs like relatives, friends, seniors, colleagues, partners, God, godfathers and certainly a source of wisdom domain. The details of these parameters can be accessed from www.lulu.com/content/231873 . I feel privileged to have access to these vital infrastructures of the 21st century, which is making the ball game entirely different from the earlier one.
I have been blogging for approximately one year. This is providing me immense satisfaction to maintain my mental and physical balance. Till one year back I forcefully used to deliver lecture to relatives and friends, today I need not to do that. My friends and relatives must be breathing well. Instead, I have hundreds of willing intellectuals, sincere readers and miser critics who listen to my views and comment regularly. Blogging provides me the platform. In the time to come, Internet may provide some relief from existing drawbacks in the democratic system. Majority is expected to get the majority dose. Blogs like www.360yahoo.com/kamekish and sites will provide solution. Posted by Picasa
