Simple Theory of Human Growth
In my maiden book, I gave a concept of ‘searching a godfather’ for all growing people. When I was writing this book and trying to elaborate the concept of godfather, it was real difficult subject to explain. It was more difficult to make the topic relevant to the people who may not have faced such dynamics in life. In the present era of digital world and information age, it is very important for us to understand the concept of ‘dynamic godfather’ (commonly called as DGF). Today, when Manmohan Singh talks to The Economics Times during the award ceremony for corporate excellence and confessed about the existence of godfather in his life, it certifies the factors of theory of human growth.
Without diluting the contents of Prime Minister Statements, I would love to put it down here for reference to editors of blog sites and all my blogger friends. ‘Let me sincerely compliment The Economics Times for thinking of this innovative manner of marking 15 years of economic reforms. I am truly grateful to you for inviting the five of us here. I must place on record the unwavering commitment of The Economics Times to economic liberalization and reform. Future Revelations
The world is all alone especially when you leave your level and move to a new and unknown level, domain and platform. Things change even in normal movements, forget about the changes, which are going to be encountered because of changes in level and growth. The moment you change the level, plenty of aspects of life change. Your circle of friends becomes new. Relationships become different. The people you are going to encounter on a day-to-day basis are different. The aspirations of the people around you change. The expectations of those people left behind get a surge.
With all these changes, it is a real challenge for an individual to face and sustain the new status. In a changed and new status, every other person appears an enemy. Not only appears, every other individual behaves like an enemy because of social and human compulsions. You, as an individual, cannot blame them. They are also human and they also have problems. They are there with all their human frailties. All this results to and leaves you all alone in this world to fight and survive.
Today society has become conscious. People have infrastructure for basic education and other facilities. It is very common to find situations such as a boy from a poor family topping the CBSE board exam, a daughter of a rickshaw puller competing for the medical entrance exam, the sons of a poor farmer getting admission into management institutes, a daughter from a small village getting selected for US airspace missions, and so on. Some of these boys and girls, when pass through various professional courses, they are left behind on the ladder of success because of non-availability of godfathers. Even if some are in a position to go to some distances, they are not able to sustain it for a long time. They are left alone to face the turmoil of life in a real sense.
What is Godfather?
When you are growing, you acquire knowledge, you acquire degrees, you generate and maintain zeal, ambition and mission. You want to excel. But how can you go all alone? It is a human instinct; you need someone, who stands by you, supports you, and guides you in your endeavour. In all probabilities, let us list out, what all you expect from a godfather-
- Helps to prepare resolutions of life at different stages,
- Suggests solutions during crisis,
- Helps to formulate big dreams,
- Proper guidance in your mission in life,
- Professional guidance to take decisions,
- Social or spiritual guidance,
- Improve the decision making system,
- Support when needed in life,
- Encourages continuously on a regular basis,
- During crises, comes back and tells you to move on,
- Provides a sense of availability and togetherness,
- Surpass others comments of surrounding,
- Keep hopes, aspirations and the future alive and brighter,
- Imparts basic physiological needs of an individual.
Amidst all the chaos in the world, the question arises, who is going to provide you all these. Who is there to work like a godfather? When you start growing, you get a feeling - you are alone. You do not have anyone on whom you can rely, in whom you can believe, from whom you can get support, somebody who encourages you to excel, somebody who guides you at a higher intellectual level, someone who excites your creative skills, imaginations, ideas, someone who enjoys your success, achievements and someone who is always there for you. But in this so-called and hyped global village, you feel - you cannot be alone? Let us try to find some solution.
Searching Godfather
In this era, information is available all across. We are fortunate to be educated. We are fortunate to be free to choose our language, religion, professions or even godfathers. It is not very difficult to choose from them.
Now I will show you two godfathers who have been with me in the long years of my research. They have been with me whenever and wherever I have gone. They have been my only continuous companions. They have always given me confidence. They have always reminded me of my worth. In the world of cheaters and deceivers, when I have moved alone in my endeavour to achieve a life of dignity, they have worked along with me day and night.
The best part of these godfathers was that they were non-demanding and non-committing. They have never asked anything in return. They have never tried to give me a bad opinion or bad impressions. They have never given me wrong views. The reason also may be simple. This may be because; I have wished to choose them. I have selected them on my terms. I have referred to them on my intelligence. They have been there based on my aspirations and knowledge. I have never relied too heavily on any of them at any time. I have never complained about their services, I have believed in their wisdom before I selected them and so far so good.
It is my responsibility and duty to communicate this to all of you who are in dire need of a godfather. This is required for those who have no godfather. This is required for those who want to achieve excellence. This is required when you want to cross and jump to higher levels. This may not be required by those who are happy with their achievements. This may not be required by those who do not want to excel. But for all those who want a godfather, just see the beauty; it will give a new lease to your life. The two godfathers are – Everlasting Quotations and Horoscopes.
Similarly, godfather can be created from the daily news paper. Today, it is the biggest source of wisdom for the growing people. The Economics Times is the best from all of them. This is reliable, authentic and regular. They never miss you. They live with you and probably will die with you. Today, when Kansi Ram dies, I remember one of the train journeys with him. He was a simple man with great ideas. He boarded the train at Delhi station with just one small suitcase and two news papers. He enters in his First Class compartment or rather coupe of two berths. Most of the train journey, he hardly talked to anyone. He read those news papers. Even in the night, I saw him just lying on the lower berth without any pillow or cushion or bed sheet. He always preferred to keep his life simple to have mind and time to solve the complex issues of society. What I want to convey is that, news paper can act like a dynamic godfather. Just try this. It has worked for Manmohan Singh. It will work for you all. Compulsive Changes
As you grow in life, the beauty of this universe is that everything grows with you. Some may grow slow, some may grow fast, some may grow super fast, and some may grow dynamically. The things which do not grow with you are generally passive things. All moving, non-moving, dynamic things grow with time. Your knowledge grows, wisdom grows, qualifications grow, your library grows, your collections grow, the number of your friends grows, family grows, society grows, and nations are growing. You need to be aware and conscious of the growth of surroundings. That is the beauty- the beauty of life. If everything around you has grown, how could a source of knowledge not change? Therefore, do not wait or rely on conventional wisdom source. Search your dynamic godfather!
