Leaders Abuse Power

Leaders of poor people all across the world are abusing the power bestowed on them through democracy. Leaders are neither using the intelligence nor sources of wisdom available at their disposal to eradicate poverty and deprivation among the poor people. Most of the leaders are engulfed in praise and glorification of self or their kith and kin. This is criminal offence in the court of law of humanity. These are being committed shamefully by these leaders. And surprisingly most of the intellectuals around them are also exploiting this human weakness to maintain their undeserved status.

This subject is very vast and certainly difficult to recognize. We all are engulfed so much in our own problems that few shortsighted leaders are taking the whole of community for a ride. This is happening all around us. The normal intelligence remains baffled, confused and vague. I have taken the responsibility to take up this complex issue and will try to explain for few people who really get interested to know the facts out of massive misinformation in this information age.

The recently concluded NAM summit fortified my belief. The leaders from 115 countries gathered together in this well developed unipolar world just for their own sake. They gathered not to remove poverty. They gathered not to overcome the problems of malnutrition, mismanagement, deprivation, human rights, drug abuse or terrorisms. They not even gathered to solve the problems of weapons of mass destruction which some of the partner countries are quietly continuing. They did not gather to discuss their problems. None of these countries took up the problems of their own people. This is the total abuse of the power bestowed on them through democracy (at least in most of the cases).

The leaders of 115 countries gathered and talked about the policies which have become irrelevant around 30 to 40 years back. They just talked about the drawbacks of rich countries. They passed the messages that how rich countries are exploiting poor countries. They talked the ill intention of the developed countries. They talked the flaw of free world. They discussed the drawback of human rights without getting an inch of inhibition about their own human rights violation records. They made all poor and deprived people little more poor, deprived, sick and fearful. They motivated few more poor intellectuals to fight with rich countries for the irrelevant causes.

Some of these leaders of poor and deprived people gathered again at UN General Assembly and proceeded doing what they do best i.e. abusing the developed countries. They do not feel ashamed of using such platform to extend and glorify the status of the poor. They do not feel ashamed in talking about the rights of poor. Leaders of poor should try to eradicate poverty first then anything else.

Are poor born to remain poor for life? I have my own doubts. My perception is that these leaders are taking these irrelevant issues unnecessarily to bring their doomsday closer. In this world of awakening, such conferences, meetings and seminars has no future. NAM has no future. NAM has future only when these leaders sit and discuss to eradicate poverty. They discuss to enhance education standard. They discuss the crime against women. They discuss to provide basic amenities to poor societies. The leaders of poor have some responsibilities than blaming rich especially if they want to eradicate poverty and deprivation from their own land in this era of opportunities.

It is an irony for the poor people. Their leaders talk about domination and threat while leaders of developed world talk about democracy, human rights, peace, tackling terrorism, eradication of poverty and so on. The leaders of poor have some responsibility when they talk to their partner across the world. They must talk and discuss about the problems which the country is facing. The leaders of poor must re-awaken to realise their own potential.

Even Hamid Karzai warned the world that terrorism is rebounding in his country and the problem had to be fought beyond Afghanistan’s borders as well as within. Why is he not making correct decisions to sort out the problems? Even Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez talked about domination, exploitation and pillage of people of the world, but unable to come out with any plan for eradicating drugs and terror problems. Iran never loses opportunities to tell the world about the threat from USA; however he hardly talks about democracy, human rights and poverty eradication. Because of his statement, many youth must be going towards terrorism or destructive mentality, but what is he doing so that youth move towards more constructive and progressive tasks?

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh talked about high level discussion with Pakistan when arms and ammunition is being found all over country. Pakistan is still supplying bulk of terrorist, arms and ammunition to almost all the part of the country. Country is living under threat. Poor are unable to have any security. But still, most of the poor are fighting to be nationalists while leaders are moving with irrelevant issues.

Recently, when Jeffery Sachs came to India, he talked about Millennium Development Goal of United Nation. The country when spending only .9% of its GDP has to spend to 4% to provide enhanced and desired medical facilities for poor. The common men in this country must get the desired medical facilities. There is no reason all these leaders of poor do not discuss about Millennium Development Goal for eradicating poverty by 2015. NAM was a good platform to discuss and talked about eradicating poverty rather abusing the power.

The growth of technology has provided means and reason for all the poor to have access to basic resources at meager price and little efforts. This infrastructure has capabilities to remove their weaknesses. The development is taking place in large scale among the young and energetic and conscious people. That is the reason, what I hear plenty of statistical progress among the people all across the world. But these data is not reflected in the talk of these leaders who are still looking backward for their policy decisions. These undercurrents provide me pleasure in conveying that freedom and progress is the need of the hour. In next few years, we will start observing changes all across in the world. The leaders and executives must take the note of these developments. People must have hope. Posted by Picasa
